The Sun Run results:

Eight Cruisers plus Jeff and  13-year-old sonTristan May ran the 25th Anniversary Sun Run today under near-perfect weather conditions; no rain, overcast skies, moderate temperatures.  Chris, Edie’s sister from Kamloops, a “graduate” of the Sun Run Clinics there, Nordic-walked the Run as well.  I do not have time stats for the Mays or Chris. Stats for the eight Cruisers are:

Adele                    1.12.29
Carla                        55.45
Edie                      1.12.30

Sharon                     55.04
Bob                        1.08.58
Ryan 44.49
 Chris 1.59.54
Others known to us:

Len Soet                  52.37
Brittany Zenger      1.26.05
Miriam Soet           1.29.33

Edie and Chris booked a suite in the Rosedale Suite Hotel on Hamilton Street, for both the Sun Run Saturday and the Leonard Cohen concert Sunday and graciously invited the Cruisers to use their shower facilities after the Sun Run.  Six availed themselves of the kind offer.  Eight including Chris enjoyed a leisurely brunch at the adjoining Rosie’s on Robson restaurant.  Our thanks to Edie and Chris for making their suite available to us and the arrangements they made for the brunch.

Change for the Cameron Cruisers:

Regarding walkers who should be training with the Cruisers soon, statistics are:

Lynn Field            1.27.54
Alfred Field          1.28.02

These two obviously are very good walkers.  Well done, Lynn and Alf!
Norman’s Diez Vista, Saturday April 18 results:

The weather was perfect.  This race was the most difficult race I’ve  ever done!  There was mud, tree roots, boulders, 6000 ft elevation gain…. I slipped and fell four times along the route due to  slippery tree roots and rocks. I had a few deep scratches and scrapes as a result.  However, there were several beautiful viewpoints in the Buntzen Lake park that we breathtaking (Diez Vista). It would be well worth a return visit on a casual hike in the summer.  I finished the 50 km race in around 6 hrs 58 minutes!!! not too bad for a first timer ultra race. The winner Gary Robbins finshed way under 5 hrs!
There you have it, Cruisers, straight from Norman’s report yesterday.  Congratulations to Norman for a good job well done indeed!
