Leanne Dalton and Bobtoc welcomed Lynn and Al Field, “graduate” walkers from the Cameron Centre Sun Run Clinic to Burnaby Lake Monday on a rainy evening. The four apparently missed Edie by a heartbeat, having started off before she saw the foursome.  Our loss, Edie.  The four ran or walked to Deer Lake via Sprott, Norland, into the Deer Lake park area, then circumvented anti-clockwise the trail around the lake, utilizing the newer trail on the south side, to the Deer Lake Beach, then returned past the Shadbolt Centre, the cop shop, the former courthouse, back to Norland and you know the rest.  Time, 1.10 with the runners regrouping with Lynn and Al, distance approx. 7.5 km; a great beginning for the new dimension, i.e., walking, in the Cruisers.

Larry reported on the Penticton weekend.  My thanks to him. Here it is:

A great weekend was had by the Cruisers and friends who went up to Penticton for the Peach City Half Marathon and 10 K Run.   The cloudy and chilly weather was taken over on Saturday afternoon by the more seasonal warmer weather and sunshine, resulting in perfect Sunday weather (sunny and 24 C) for the run.   The results are posted below, but as usual that’s only half the story.  Niel, Ruby and Tanya drove up on Friday and were joined by Christina on Saturday at Tanya’s father’s and stepmother’s house in Summerland, while Carla and her friend Ellen stayed at the Log Cabin Motel down by Skaha Lake, really close to the finish line, Larry checking into the Super 8 Motel slightly further north, while Rod drove in from Kelowna early Sunday morning.  Larry and Rod warmed up by walking 2 km to the start line while Ellen and Carla walked 6 km – we were ready to go!   A fairly level route  – only a couple of minor hills, and there was great scenery along the Skaha Lake portion of the course.  The gang, minus Rod, had the apres-run lunch at Earl’s in Penticton, enjoying the summer-like day outside on the patio.  Christina, Ruby, Niel and Tanya liked the weather so much they went cycling along the trails near the Channel Parkway that same afternoon!   Ellen and Carla went wine touring up at Naramata as well.    All in all, a great time was had and Rod wants more Cruisers to do this run next year!
