BobSQtoc presents the coveted (not) Faller’s Trophy to Shiraz, who took one for the team last Saturday. Music played while the paparazzi took photos of Shiraz and fellow Cruisers Larry, Norm, Ryan, Rod and Bob on the left and Lynn and Al on the right. Left, right, left, right, lift those bloody knees. Teehee.
Eleven Cruisers were active Saturday morning. Nine were at Cameron Centre, two at Burnaby Lake. Seven of the nine at the Centre,RA Edie, Larry, Norman, Rod, Shiraz, Ryan and Bob ran to the IGA corner and return, time 1.04 to 1.07, distance 9.4 k. Lynn and Al walked the same distance, time approx 1.20, not shabby at all. The eleven enjoyed perfect weather for the workouts; a cool 10C temperature to start, overcast skies, a bit of a breeze; the best day of the year.
After the run-walks at the Centre, Shiraz was inducted into the hallowed ranks of the Faller’s Club with the appropriate amount of pomp and circumstance, which of course amounted to very little. The ten Cruisers stood at inertia in a show of “respect” to Shiraz for not picking up his feet. A drum roll did not take place since the local Cub pack couldn’t find their drum sticks.
Sharon’s Report:
Carla and Sharon ran for less than an hour this morning. Met at 7:30, no Gina, — waited for 11 minutes– before heading out. We had a good pace, but shorter distance than last Saturday. We parked at the same place- headed to Deer Lake as before- circled the lake counter clockwise again- but took a short cut back.
Carla and I will meet next Friday to head to town on the Sky Train to the race package-up in down town Vancouver. Then we hope to all meet and travel to the Scotia Half together on Sunday.
