Cruisers were busy Sunday and Monday.
Ryan – training run Sunday:
Missing the Cruiser runs lately with conferences/homework, but yesterday ran from home to UBC down Lougheed/Broadway, 27km in 2hrs 33mins (hard on the legs with all the stops/starts).
Joy – 10 km run Sunday in the Fraser Valley:
Here is my official time during the Run for Water yesterday in Abbotsford. It was a success and I heard that they raised $80,000+ which will benefit the village of Choro, Ethiopia to have clean water in the coming months. Weather yesterday was scorching hot, and personally it was difficult to run.

Monday 6.30 pm run:
Five cruisers came to Cameron to run. Tracy MB ran down with Chris where they were joined by Rod, Gina and Edie. We ran Forest Grove in reverse then down Underhill. Four Cruisers ran to the end of Eastlake and then Gina and Rod ran back to Cameron while Tracy MB & Chris ran home. One of us took a Barry Shortcut and did the usual route back. The same one did a lot of walking as she was roasting in the heat and humidity! Gina and I both thought the 7k run was harder than Saturday although Gina ran well despite the heat.
Cruisers Carla, Joy and Bobtoc met Monday for instructions and dinner with other volunteers for the Girolino di Burnaby races for youngsters age 5 to 7 and 8 to 12 respectively. The races will be held this coming Saturday in conjunction with the annual Hats Off Parade on Hastings Street. The races will be biathlons, including a run before bicycle races. The volunteers met at Confederation House near Eileen Dailly. Rainy Kent is race director. The volunteers will be busy; bicycle checks commence at 7.00 am. The three races will occur after the parade is finished. Before the races commence at 12.30, the bright yellow fencing with which so many of us are familiar has to be put up starting at 11.30 am. The day will be busy for contestants, volunteers those in the parade, and spectators. Rainy could use a few more volunteers. If interested please show up Saturday, 7.00 am if you wish to check bikes, and 11.15 am if you wish to wrestle with fencing. Headquarters; the old McDonald building, south west corner, Hastings and Alpha Avenue. Bring work gloves. Lunch supplied.
