Monday: Ten walkers and runners walked or ran toward Como Lake Wednesday evening. Al and Lynn walked one hour and covered 5.5 km. (how do they do it?) Alex Lau, Carla, Debra, RA Edie, Norman, Rod, Tish and Bobtoc ran to the lake, all did one loop, one or two did two, time 1.05, 8.5 or 9.5 km depending upon number of loops or bobturns. The ten enjoyed undoubtedly the best night of the year; perfect temperature, a great sunset, no precip, afterglow back at Cameron Centre. Rod is running like a deer these days, as is Norman despite his bad shoulder.

Wednesday: Five runners met at the Centre Wednesday evening for hill repeats using Underhill Avenue. Alex Lau, Larry, Libby, Rod and Bobtoc ran our usual route to Underhill Avenue; Alex, Larry and Rod completed 5x; Libby and Bobtoc completed 4 1/2x, then the five returned via Forest Grove Drive, Gaglardi overpass, the Beaverbrooks, Cameron St to the Centre. Distance, 10.5 km, time 1.20. The five escaped rainshowers, which quit before our run commenced, enabling the five to run on dry pavement. The temperature was balmy, neither cool nor hot, ideal for the work done, making the evening a pleasure. The sky was overcast which resulted in early darkness. Reflects and/or lights are now the order of the day. Please prepare accordingly.

Saturday:Four runners and two walkers met at the Centre Saturday morning at 7:30. Walkers Lynn and Al set off to Burnaby Lake for a long walk in preparation for the Fall Classic half marathon. I don’t have any particulars of their time and distance, but these two know what they are doing big time. I anticipate a report from Lynn. The four runners, Larry, Rod, Tish and Bobtoc ran west from the Centre on the usual route to the Kensington Ice Area, paused there, then continued west on Frances Street as far as Beta Avenue before heading back. The four again used the usual route route eastward but included the Shellmont hill in their journey, then ran Forest Grove Drive, the Gaglardi overpass, the Beaverbrooks, back to the Centre. Distance 20.2 km, time 2.40. All six enjoyed a no precip morning, comfortable temperature, ideal for the run and walk. Also on Saturday Rick Davidson independently ran 22 miles in 3.53, and Debra Nicol on Sunday ran 33.5 km in 3.45, covering 2.5 km more than her run Friday Sept 11 in the same time. Wow! Debra on Monday evening will swim in Sasamat Lake.
