Monday: Nine Cruisers ran/walked Monday from Cameron Centre. Runners Rene, Lora and Shiraz ran to the Nature House on the north trail to Burnaby Lake, time out one hour, distance approx. 10 km. Walkers Adele, Larry, Edie, Rod, Tracy and Bob walked for half an hour onto the north trail of Burnaby Lake and returned to the Centre, time 75 minutes, distance 5.5 km. The nine enjoyed the cool temperature, cloud cover and drop in humidity, all welcome changes from the recent heat.
Wednesday: Nine runners/ walkers met Wednesday at Cameron Centre, including Valerie Roy whom we haven’t seen for a long time. Her babe is due circa Sept 12. Val looks wonderful! She walked with Rod and Bobtoc for a few minutes before returning home. The remaining eight headed out on the Stoney Creek trail to North Road to Chapman Avenue, Robinson, the runners extending their run somewhat before returning via Ebert to the Centre. Edie and Shiraz ran 47 minutes, distance 7 km; Alex, 50 minutes, 8.5 km; Sayeeda, Rene and Asad, a friend of Shiraz’, 54 minutes, 9 km. The nine enjoyed the best night of the year; perfect temperature, perfect skies. Libby would have loved it, particularly being out in front crossing North Road, holding up traffic for the others. Not to worry; Edie, while driving home saw Rod and Bobtoc crossing North Road but she missed them.
Saturday: Seven Cruisers met at 7:30 am at the Burnaby Lake parking lot. Rod’s objective was to complete a long run in prep for the Delta Half next month. Rod completed 22 km, time 2:40. Alex, Rene, Shiraz, Edie, Carla and Bobtoc completed 10 km, times varying between 1:08 and 1:18. The seven enjoyed the shade afforded the trails within the Lake area plus the relatively cool temperature at that fairly early time, the nature surrounding them, and for Rod, the call of nature. It was probably the best morning of the year, except for the suntanning snake(s).
