Monday: Seven Cruisers met 6:30 pm at Cameron on the day of Rod’s 70th birthday. Rod stayed away. Larry and Bobtoc walked, Alex, Lora, Sayeeda, Edie and Sharon ran. The initial route for the six was over the Gaglardi pedestrian overpass, up the Forest Grove hill proceeding west; walkers continued to Underhill then south to Broadway, at which point the runners met at that corner, having run west on Shellmont to Meadowood, thence south through a right-of-way to Broadway then running east to Underhill. All six continued on Eastlake and you know the rest to the Centre. Time for the runners, 1:04, distance about 9 km. Walkers, time 1:14, distance, perhaps 6 km. All six enjoyed a reasonable temperature, humid evening.

Wednesday: Five Cruisers plus two athletic supporters” met with Rainy’s Eileen Dailly group at 6:30 pm at the Burnaby Lake parking lot. Approximately two dozen attended. Most of the runners circumnavigated the lake, with Edie and Alex running 30 minutes out and 30 minutes back. The others attending: Carla, Stormin’ Norman and Bobtoc, the latter running only 20 minutes or so due to his injured but recovering left calf. Athletic Supporters Angela Lau and Marie Kuhn relaxed with Joe Turtle, he nursing an injured thumb, plus Pat Dion. The merry band enjoyed BBC’s patties and sausage etal, and in some cases, an alcoholic beverage, some from Maui. The weather was ideal although the route close to the lake was very humid. Our thanks to the invitation from Rainy and Joe. It was a time for seeing running friends from old. Thanks also to Alex Lau for supplying his propane barbecue.

Saturday:
What a beautiful city we live in – Sharon, Edie and Bob at the Olympic Village; Sharon at Kits Show Boat with Yoga in the background – so West Coast!

On Saturday 7:30 am three Cruisers: RAEdie, Sharon and Bobtoc took the Skytrain to Scienceworld from where they headed west along the south side of False Creek. The morning was sunny and bright, scenery spectacular; no smog, hundreds of boats at anchor along the route. The three walked/ran to Granville Island and about a km beyond, with Edie and Sharon continuing to Kitsilano Beach, with Bob turning back east, doing more running than walking on the eastern leg of the journey. We saw False Creek and the high density residence units at their best; not throngs of people out at first; then cyclists and runners showed up in more numbers. It is obvious we now live in a world class city. Distances guestimated by Edie with the use of her computer, 9 for Bob and 13 for Edie and Sharon.
