After they met Diana at the Centre, five wise guys and one wise woman: Alex, Larry, Rod, Ross, Bobtoc and Flora departed from the Centre Monday on a cold winter’s night. They looked out and behold, saw ice, deep, crisp and uneven, and heard frosty wind make moan, and earth stood hard as iron. The six wise ones looked east (this time) to the church of St. Stephens, and saw a sign in the mists pointing to St Tim’s of Horton. They followed
the sign to the North Road and found there a room for them, where they saw food for their bodies. They gifted franks and cents , also thanks to the servers, and feasted on hot chocolates, a doughnut, two coffees and three lard balls, chanting Tracy,
Tracy, who in time before had named the balls, lard, a name which shall forever stick. The six wise ones envisioned walks and runs in the New Era, praised the heat in the room, a New Year starting tomorrow for sister Christina, then returned to their homes far away, having tasted of St Tim’s abundance.
Rod, the younger twin, ran Wednesday. See his report:
One runner (Rod) went from home to IGA and back on a coooooooooooollll but dry evening. Time out 1h20, distance 10.5 km. Trail was good and only a very few slippery places near the golf course under the trees. It was an effort to get out and do it but I felt good afterwards even if I did wear far too much clothing. See you Saturday in the rain.
Sharon, our Duracell rep!
Sharon walked Wednesday with the Edmonds Community Centre walking group in the Deer Lake area. On Thursday, not having enough snow and stuff, Sharon, with the Burnaby Hospice group hiked about 4 hours from the Main and Terminal Skytrain station in the False Creek a

Saturday: Cruisers were active Saturday, some in the morning, others in the afternoon, sandwiching the Shower for Mini-Cruiser Damien Hood.
Runners Christina, Rachel, Rod and Bobtoc and walker Larry met at the Rugby Club parking lot 8:00 am. Their route was the road leading south past the rowing club parking lot entrance, continuing south and east past the wi
ldlife refuge facility and the Hydro power lines near the freeway, total time out for the runners, 55 minutes, for Larry, 50 minutes. The five needed to tread gingerly due to black ice encountered in shady spots along the route.
In the afternoon after the
baby shower, Sherian, Laurie and RA Edie walked to Burnaby Lake and then ran for one hour and eight minutes to the Dam and then back to the path over the tracks and ditch, where they walked again back to Sherian’s. A little slippery in places and kind of like running on sand
over the snowy parts, but a beautiful afternoon for a run and toilet viewing. (Editor’s note re: the reference to toilet: I won’t go there, it’s complex).
All eight Cruisers experienced no precip, above zero temperatures, but icy spots were evident on the two routes used.
Sherian’s home was the site of a shower for Val and Richards’s new addition namely Damien, now ten weeks old. Damien captivated his audience, was cuddled by most of the guests. Big thanks to Sherian, Edie and Laurie for their efforts in providng the venue, refreshments, fund collecting, etc.
