Six Cruisers ran Monday evening, all moving west along our familiar winter route. Norman and Rene’ ran to IGA and return, time 55 minutes, distance 9.5 km; Alex and Bob ran only to Broadway and Underhill, time 45 minutes, distance not very; Rod and RA Edie, plus her two dogs Bella and April, walked to and returned from Eastlake near Underhill, time about 50 minutes. The six dodged a light rain that dissapated as the run/walks started.
Twelve Cruisers turned out for runs or walks Wednesday evening under sunny and comfortable temperature conditions. At Tracy’s suggestions the runners used for the first time in eons the Stoney Creek trail to North Road. Tracy led the fast runners Rene’, Sayeeda, Alex, Larry and Norman up the inside trail to the junction of the trail up to SFU and the trail along the power line, returned down to Chapman Avenue, east and south to Robinson to Ebert and return. Rod, Shiraz, Lora and Bobtoc used North Road to Chapman instead of the inside trail and continued on the same route as the swift six. Flora and Ross ran/walked using the Gaglardi pedestrian overpass, Forest Grove Drive, Eastlake and return. Times for the three groups: 55.50, 54.40 and 35 minutes. Rod clocked the distance of the second group at 7.6 km. As said, the weather was great; best night of the year.
Beau Gabiniewicz, one of the Telus runners, was welcomed to the Saturday am run by Edie, Rod, Larry, Alex, Libby, Shiraz and Bobtoc. Beau, Edie and Rod ran the Forest Grove loop run, west to Underhill, north to Forest Grove Drive, then east to the pedestrian overpass back to the Centre; time 55 minutes, distance 7 km. Larry, Alex, Libby, Shiraz and Bobtoc lsd’d west along the usual route first to the Kensington Rink and continuing west, Larry having left the pack, using a faster pace, continued west to Willingdon Ave before returning;to the Centre; his time 2:03, 19:5 km. The remaining four ran west to Madison Avenue before returning, their time about 3:00, distance 21.1. After returning to the Centre Alex continued his run east to Como Lake and return, adding 74 minutes and 9.5 km to his time and distance, for totals of 4:04 time and 30.6 km distance. The eight runners enjoyed a cool and overcast start with sun peaking through the clouds fairly early on, probably the best morning of the year.
