Monday: Five runners out. Edie, Carla, Alex, Rod and Alice, back from St. John’s N L: We went along Joe’s trail to North Road and back.Time out approx 1h5. Distance 7.75 km.
On Wednesday evening Rod, RA Edie, Christina, Alex, Bobtoc, plus Jennel and her daughters Anamaria and Sofia met at the Poco Running Room for the annual 20 minute challenge run. All participants were issued the cap for the year, brilliant fluorescent orange, before setting off. Rod, Edie, Christina and Alex ran 9.2 km, 1:16 time. Bobtoc stayed with Jennel and her two girls plus their super stroller. They consumed 50 minutes, with Anamaria walk/running much of the time. Upon returning to the RR store, Jennel took her young charges home and the five runners went to the Waves coffee house on Shaughnessy Street for R & R and to join John, Christina’s squeeze. Before the run we met and talked to Ken Blowey who is still recovering from major shoulder surgery of several weeks ago. The overall group enjoyed a no-rain, comfortable temperature evening, with a hint of shower showing up well after the time of the various runs.
Four only Cruisers made it to the Red Bridge Saturday for their morning run. RA Edie and Rod ran along the Poco Trail run as far as 5 to 10 minutes past the Hyde Creek Rec Centre, time about 2 hours, distance per Rod about 16 km. Verna and Bobtoc ran along the same route. planning to go out 30 minutes and back 30 minutes, but in fact were out 1:30, enjoying the flora, so much so that they missed one or two turns but got back to the Red Bridge, time out 1:30, distance 10.16 km. The four enjoyed the best morning of the year without a doubt. Sherian ran on her own into the Deer Lake and Oakland townhouse area from home and back, 2 hours, not sure of her distance.
