Four Cruisers including Bobtoc started the Monday run from the Centre toward Como Lake. Within the first five minutes Bobtoc tripped on the run north on Willoughby Avenue, skinning his knees, injuring his chest, and was picked up by Alex so Toc could resume taking a breath. After escorting Toc back to the Centre, for his ride home, Larry, Alex and Laura Farrelly ran out to Como Lake, up Cottonwood to MacIntosh and through the school, around the lake trail once, and returned the same way. Time out, 1 hour 15 minutes, distance about 10 km. The four enjoyed gorgeous weather for a run, albeit a short one for the older chap, who is in satisfactory condition. .
Four Cruisers went for a good walk Wednesday evening along the trail to North Road, up North Road and around the area along Gilroy to Chapman, then returned the same way. Larry, Tracy, Rod, and Edie plus canine Cruisers April and Bella were the participants on a very pleasant “summer” evening. The weather will get better (really?). Bobtoc was at Cameron Centre to see the group depart for their walk, and reported that his knees are healing quite nicely. Time for Tracy and Rod, 58 minutes, a bit longer for Edie and Larry and the canine contingent. Distance 5 km.
Larry and Edie.
Tracy presented Bobtoc with a pair of running shorts of a brilliant fluorescent pink hue, reminiscent of the shorts which disappeared from view with help it is believed from his wife Marie a few eons ago. Tears sprung to his eyes when he saw them, and a few more when he tried them on. Life is good! Power to those who clean out their closets!
Cruisers were busy on the weekend.
Alex, Larry, Rod, Bobtoc
and Verna met at the Centre and motored to the Red Bridge, a repeat of last Saturday. The five enjoyed God’s creation; flora, young families on bikes, walkers, a few runners, on the very best morning of the year. The five ran/walked 13:5 km from the Red Bridge to the Hyde Creek Recreation Centre and return. Time was not a factor; run/walk time 2:06 after deducting time spent at the Rec. Centre. Larry and Rod spotted a bear on his hind legs en route. A sign warning of cougars also was noted; however none seen. A blonde runner was seen but she was too young to qualify as a cougar. All in all, a very fine morning, Thanks to the four who looked after toc on his first venture out after his fall Monday.
Not to be outdone, RA Edie reports: It would have been warm enough for you to wear your new shorts in Langley today. John, Sherian, Christina, Laurie and I drove to Fort Langley, John to take pictures and the others to run. We ran 16.8k in 2:23 through the beautiful trails and by pastoral scenes on the best day of summer so far.
Afterwards we had refreshments at our favourite cafe where some of us enjoyed cinnamon buns and others chilled mocha lattes. The only thing missing was the presence of other Cruisers. Next time! RAE
We’re not finished yet.
Pat and I went out on our bikes today, Sunday. Did the Poco Trail from Colony Farm the other way, along Maryhill Bypass then to the Pitt River, on the dyke and back the way we went yesterday. Distance 25km. Time out, who knows, we stopped a lot.
