Four Cruisers met at and ran from the Centre Monday on a cool but clear evening. Laura, RA Edie, Rod and Bobtoc did an EZ run to Shellmont on Greystone and returned, time 1:12, distance 7.4 km.

Seven Cruisers met at and ran or walked from the Centre Wednesday on a filthy, wet, cool evening, NOT the best night of the year. All were thoroughly wet upon returning. Larry walked to Eastlake and Underhill and returned, time 40 minutes. Flora, RA Edie and Bobtoc ran to Broadway and Underhill before returning, time 50 minutes,
distance circa 6 km. Libby, Rachel and Sherian ran to Underhill and Broadway then continued north and east to Forest Grove Drive to the pedestrian overpass and continued to the Centre via the Beaverbrooks; time 1 hour, distance circa 7.5 km. Stretching was done inside the building, needless to say.

Oh what a beautiful morning! Six Cruisers were sent off by Bobtoc on Laura’s birthday to run on a clear, crisp day while watching for icy spots. Rod and Flora ran to Underhill and Broadway while Edie, Laura, Rene and Owen (sp?) ran to Pinehurst before returning to Cameron. Time out for the last 4 was about 1:15. Norman went to Timmie’s but had to drink his coffee in solitude as no other Cruisers showed, Bobtoc having returned home thinking he had no one to drink and solve world problems with.

Good luck in the run tomorrow.

Fall Classic Half and 10K:

Five Cruisers ran the Half or 10k races at UBC Sunday morning in zero or
so temperature, overcast skies with no precip, and were cheered on by athletic supporters Rod and Larry. Again, the Fall Classic races were well organized, from bag checks to race packet distribution, a warm gym, cotton gloves, Marty handing out run literature, good routes, the Half being the 10k doubled, food at the end of the races, showers, EZ parking. Results:

A good time was had by all.
Brunch in the afternoon was the feature of the day!

About 32 Cruisers and athletic supporters, spouses and friends made up the party at the Eagle Creek Restaurant at the Burnaby Mountain Golf Course. Arrangements were made by our Rear Admiral Edie, and the arrangements were done to a T. Among the 32 were Shiraz and Nebila’s twin boys, Zayd and Rayan, who are handsome to say the
least. The boys were the hit of the gathering. Two decorated cakes were part of the gathering also, one in celebration of birthday anniversaries of Christina, Laura, Barry and Bobtoc. The birthday cake featured a photo of the four celebrants from four different occasions. The photo looked as though the foursome were together at one occasion. Well done, Edie and Rod! The other cake bore a photo of Shiraz and Nebila’s boys. The brunch was memorable; lots of fun, good food, new friendships made. Edie prepared a 2012 calendar for Bobtoc, the photos therein an assortment of photos taken at many races, including one of Joe Turtle and Bob in flight, sort of, in a race goodness only knows how long ago. Again and again, my thanks to the Cruisers and to Edie in particular for her thoughtfulness and hard work in putting together the brunch. For more photos, please click on John’s link.
