Four Cruisers ran on Monday on a clear, mild night. Rene, Rod, Alex and Edie ran the Forest Grove loop, distance of 7k and time of 56 minutes. This was Alex’s second run of the day ( See Len’s report below). What a way for Alex to bring in the Chinese New Year of the Dragon. We had two Dragons on the run tonight, Rod and Rene. It was great to run without worrying about slipping. Congratulations to our warm weather Kihei Cruisers for their runs in Maui. I must say that while I was walking my dogs on Sunday morning on my icy street and freezing my butt off while trying not to slip, I experienced feelings of envy when I thought of my running buddies setting out on the Maui Oceanfront Run, but don’t worry, I’ll get over it.
Saturday: Five Cruisers met at Cameron Centre this morning, two Kihei Cruisers and three Canada Cruisers. Larry came in his civvies to kindly see us off despite arriving home at midnight and not getting to bed until 2. Quite an adjustment for Larry and Flora to be back in the land of ice and snow with their tans and memories of kona lava java ice cream, palm trees and sunsets still fresh in their minds. Flora, Rod, Laura and Edie set off to test the elements, Rod giving in to long pants. Four of us ran to Eastlake and Underhill and Laura and Rod continued running to Underhill and Broadway while Flora and Edie walked to avoid slipping. The snow was coming down in Forest Grove making all the sidewalks slippery so the group walked from the bottom of the Underhill hill back to Cameron. We wanted to call on Adele (we miss you) for coffee or hot chocolate (Rod said beer) but we passed on by making our way back in the snow for a total distance of 7k and time out 1:12. We were all chilly when we arrived at Cameron so went straight home for coffee and me to put on my Bud pants.
Where oh where was our leader recently returned from Kihei??? Was he reading the paper and enjoying his morning coffee while his buddies bravely faced the wind and snow? Seems like it. You gotta love leadership. I want to be a leader some day…. We’re glad to have you all back, safe and sound and relaxed. Next we’ll be whining because Rod gets to go to Florida and Jamaica. It’s good that we don’t run out of things to whine about on our runs.

No further word from the Kihei Cruisers so I guess they’ve forgotten about us. We thought of them having Happy Hour in 27 degrees and sunshine when we were running, but perhaps their thoughts were elsewhere while they munched on nachos and drank wine followed by watching the sun set. Life is good……
Len’s Report:
This morning we had three groups of runners and walkers head outdoors. Ros and Shirley walked the 6.8 km Ricky’s Choice route. Kate and Alex White ran the 8.4 km Watling route and Rick Davidson, Debra Colvin, Alex Lau and I did the 12.6 km Costco run. Below is a link to a map of our run as well as my route description.
