Rod, Edie, Bobtoc’n’Harvey met and ran from the Centre Monday on a moonlit, starlit evening, the best night of the year. The group ran/walked west to Underhill via Eastlake, north to Forest Grove Drive, to the pedestrian overpass to return to the Centre; time and distance 1:02 and 7 km. Flora made a cameo appearance, greeting the group on their return since Flora was late arriving at the Centre.
Ten Cruisers:Rod, Laura, Larry, Rachel, Flora, Libby, Laurie Hilborn, and RA Edie each with a dog, Eoin and Bobtoc ran to Underhill and Broadway, some to do hillwork, either 2.5x or 2x, then returned via Forest Grove Drive and the pedestrian overpass to the
Centre. As the ten set out the light rain stopped completely so the group enjoyed a run free of precip. It was the second best night of the year.
Len Soet joined Cruisers Alex, RA Edie,Flora, Larry, Laura and Eoin, Minnesota Rachel, Sherian and Bobtoc, having run from his home on Kincaid near the School Board offices, then all ran to Burnaby Lake. Eoin turned back at the nature house, and Len returned home from the parking lot, leaving the others to circumnavigate Burnaby Lake before returning to the Centre.
See Len’s report below. Alex continued his run in the vicinity of the Centre, i.e. Beaverbrook, the pedestrian overpass, Forest Grove, Eastlake, a bit of North Road, to give him a total distance of 19.2 km. The others completed 14 km, in time of 2:05 to 2:10. The group enjoyed a no precip, +9C morning with some sun, perfect for the run.Hi Bob,I ended up doing 21.4 km total. It was about 9 km from my house to the Cameron Center, via the south side of Burnaby Lake. Then I did a 4 km loop before joining you for my run home via the north side of Burnaby Lake (8 km). Here is a link to my Endomondo map.
Sunday: Laurie and Edie volunteered at the First Half and gave out the medals to Cruisers Debra and Norman as well as Laurie B and Rainy. A cool morning with drizzly rain – perfect for running.
Norman was in pain but it didn’t stop him from crossing the finish line.
Also on Sunday. Susan Oliver, Tish’s daughter, performed at the Variety of Hearts Telethon. An amazing young woman!
