Five runners turned out Monday evening. Edie, Laura, Leo Liu, Rod (returned from Florida and Jamaica) and Bobtoc ran west, facing a stiff and cold wind. Since Bobtoc ran 19 k Saturday, Edie 16 k Sunday, Laura returned after several days due to a bad cold and Rod had not run for two weeks, the five ran only to Broadway and Underhill. The hoped for tailwind did not occur, so the five ran back under their own power. Time 46 minutes. The “Twotlets” strike again – Cameron Clones!

Six Cruisers ran Wednesday on a cold but dry evening. The six: Laura, Rachel,(back from Maui), Rod (back from Jamaica), Larry, Flora and Bobtoc ran the usual route to Shellmont, up the hill to Underhill, south to Eastlake, east back to Beaverbrook, Cameron Street to the Centre. Time out, 1:09. A good time was had by all.

Rod and Bobtoc met at and ran from the Centre Friday afternoon to the Kensington Ice Rink with unceasing rain p**sing down, a head wind on the way back, and a cold temperature all the time. Total time elapsed including pit stop at the rink, 2:20, distance by GPS 16.3 km. Alex ran from his home Friday morning with the intent of meeting Rod and Bobtoc, however he was foiled by their decision to run in the afternoon due to double booking by Bob. Alex’s report of his Vancouver Marathon training follows:
This morning I left home at 7:23. Ran to deer Lake then to Burnaby Lake parking lot and proceeded along Government Road and Eastlake, arrived Cameron Centre at 8:55 hoping to join the other Crusiers with their long run. Left the Centre at 9:07 without Bob and Rod. Ran to Kensington Ice Rink as planned and then ran home. Total run time 3:28 (Total time out 3:45) Distance covered 28.8 Km. Rain refused to stop during the whole period. All clothings are completely WET. Water dripping out of my cap and gloves. The only thing not wet were my hand warmers. I won’t go running without them now. Alex.

Saturday am run:

On Saturday, March 10, RA Edie, Flora, Rachel, Laura and Larry ran to Kensington Rink and back, time out 2 hours 18 minutes, distance 17 km. The weather was cloudy and a little drizzly at first, but it stayed dry, although the running route had its share of puddles. We stayed dry and ran at a good pace. No Tim Hortons signs yet at the new business park at Underhill and Eastlake though.

Not to be outdone, Chris Keeling entered a duathlon Sunday at UBC. He reports:

20 km bike ride+transition times 1:02:27
2nd 5 km run 28:43

We’re not finished yet. On Sunday afternoon Bobtoc and his squeeze Marie, and Christina Saremba attended the Inlet Jazz Big Band and the Harmony Vocal Ensemble concert at the Terry Fox Theatre in Port Coquitlam. The concert featured swing and early jazz music from the ’20’s through to the ’80’s. The music was excellent, the audience enthusiastic as were the band and voice artists. Thanks, band members Rob and Laura Stagg, also Nancy who we were pleased to see.
