On Wednesday April 18, Rod, René, Alex, Larry, Libby, RA Edie and furry friends Bella and April met on a cloudy and slightly milder evening (we’re so hopeful for better weather) and the runners ran the IGA RIP route but headed into the trails around the golf course from Arden Road, and ran to Squint Lake Park playing fields, proceeding through to Phillips, back on the IGA route and back to Cameron Centre, time 1 hour 14 minutes, distance 9.8 km. RA Edie and the Canine Cruisers walked the Forest Grove route, taking the Stoney Creek route through the Gaglardi overpass direction. As we all returned at about the same time, the Boston Marathon super finisher Stormin’ Norman came into the parking lot (no he did not run over to the Center!) in his Boston shirt, MEDAL!, orange jacket and cap and he still looked good, was walking fine but was a little stiff. His back is fine but he thinks he will give it a little recovery time. He’ll be back to tackle a half marathon or two we’re sure. RA Edie got some pics of our Boston champion, watch for them on the Cruisers blogspot soon.
Rod, Larry, Flora, Laura and Rene on Saturday morning ran to and along Joe’s Trail and return on a balmy spring day, no rain. Distance 7.5 k, time 1:12. Rene’s time was a bit shorter since he sprinted his way back from Winston St. to the Centre.
