Sublime was the weather, the trees, the dogs, leashed or unleashed, canines or humans Monday 8:00 am at Mundy Park. Alex, RA Edie, Larry, Laura and Bobtoc took a leisurely 4:14 k run/walk on the Perimeter trail on a sunny but cool at first day. The park was well-used by runners, walkers, dogs and owners. The five capped their run by coffee and a muffin at Starbuck’s at the mall near Mariner Way and Austin Road.
On Wednesday, Rod, Libby, Edie, Laura and Larry met at Cameron Centre. The weather was horrendous and we were all soaked. Laura and Larry ran Forest Grove back
wards while Libby and Rod ran/walked up to the school area and Edie followed with April and Bella. When we got back to Cameron we were all soaked to the skin with squishy shoes and sopping hair. A memorable outing but not in a good way.

Boston Marathoners:
No report so far from Norman or Laurie; however the website for the Boston Marathon advises the temperature was 85F, converting to 30C for us Canadians.
Whidbey Island Half:
The runners and athletic supporters had a blast on the weekend at Oak Harbor and Coupeville. The weather on both Saturday and Sunday was sunny, breezy and relatively warm, ideal for the runs on Sunday. The runs were very well organized; lots of water stops, great volunteers on duty, beautiful scenery on the half marathon route; sea scapes, forested areas, hills for sure. Laurie and Rachel were offered Budweiser stuff near the exit of the Whidbey Naval Air Station, readily accepted by Laurie. Too bad it wasn’t beer… A few of the merry band had a taste of ice cream soup at Edie’s room because the freezer section of her fridge was on the fritz. Kudos to RA Edie for her accommodation arrangements made months ago for the runners and supporters and her hosting the group Sunday after the run, to Christina for arranging for the Saturday evening dinner at the Front Street Cafe in Coupeville, her travel arrangements for the Run for the Ferry to Port Townsend for the walkabout there! Notable also was Larry’s attempt to board said ferry, taking Edie’s CRV with him, before being stopped in his tracks.
The Sun Run:
Alex reports on his extended run:
I ran the Sun Run route.. I started at the intersection of Victoria Drive and Broadway . Ran along the sky train urban trail to the start line of the Sun Run. Started the Sun run route with the yellow bib runners at 9:03am . Finished the 10K route at 9:59am and continued my LSD run along the sky train trail back to Victoria and Broadway, Then I ran along the Central Valley trail to Douglas Road, South on Douglas. East on Canada Way; South on Deer Lake Parkway and Royal Oak Avenue. The run ended in front of my house. Total distance 33Km.
