On Monday, courtesy of Rod:  Two runners, Alex and Rod did Forest Grove backwards, Shellmont to Meadowwood and back to Cameron. Time 61 minutes, Distance 8.25 km.
Special announcement from Valerie Roy and husband Richard:  We are putting our townhouse beside Cameron Park up for sale this week.  We bought a house in the Glenayre neighborhood and will move there by the end of October.  Our townhouse should be on MLS this Wednesday (142-3288 Noel Drive).  If anyone is interested our real estate agent is Allen Kruger: http://604newhome.com/listings.html.

On Wednesday, Larry and Edie ran up Stony Creek Trail, cut across the school grounds and Larry ran up Forest Grove to the playground while Edie ran/walked to catch up, then we ran down the trail, back to Forest Grove, over the overpass and back to Cameron.  We checked out the new paths at Cameron.  Time out about an hour and a distance of about 6k.

On Saturday, and throughout last week, many Cruisers and “associates” were busy volunteering at the B.C. Seniors Games.  By all reports, things ran smoothly!  Mucho thanks to Rod and Pat Hargreaves and RA Edie Kernighan for all their hard work co-ordinating the track and field and running events at Swangard Stadium, and to all who helped out at the Games.  Rod ran the 10K run in a time of approximately 67 minutes, unfortunately hampered by a pulled calf muscle.  (The first place finisher was, no surprise, Herb Phillips with a time of 44:16.  How does he do it??)
On Sunday, quite the Cruisers crew turned out at Burnaby Lake at 8:30 on a great, sunny day, not too hot but a bit humid, and ran various distances around the lake trails.  RA Edie, Christina, Giselle, Carla, Sherian, Alex, Rachel, Laura and Larry ventured out, heading northeast to the nature house and around the lake, with Rachel, Larry and Laura finishing their run at about 9 km and a time of approximately 90 minutes, while the rest carried on for more, with Carla, Alex and Sherian doing a total of about 12-13 km, time unreported,  and RA Edie, Christina and Giselle doing a total of 16 km in 2 hours 10 minutes.  While at the south end of the fields, we saw Laurie Hilborn walking and she did a walk along the lake trails as well.   (I hope I got all that right!)
After that, the group attended the Seniors Games Volunteer Lunch at Bill Copeland Arena.  Beer, wine, and burgers prepared by the Burnaby Firefighters were on the menu.  We saw lots of the other Cruiser “associates” and had a nice time chatting.
