Under the direction of Alex he and Bobtoc ran early Monday morning from the Deer Lake Sperling Avenue parking lot west and south on the trail leading to the West Deer Lake Trail, continuing west to the Sussex trail, returning along Moscrop, crossing Royal Oak Avenue at Deer Lake Parkway, hung a right to enter the trail north of the lake and continued back to the beach at Sperling Avenue. The two were pleased to be in shade most of the time, at a time when few walkers and runners were out. The morning was not too hot, serene. The West Deer Lake trail was new to the undersigned; scenic, undulating hills, footbridges, wide paths. All in all a great route, thanks to Alex. Time and distance, 1:10, 7.5 km. This one we shall do again.
Not to be outdone, Jennel did an hour run Monday afternoon from her home down Panorama, up Johnson, down Johnson up Parkway Blvd. (Libby, I’m a sucker for punishment – that Blvd. is a HUGE hill!), back up Panorama and to my home on Sandstone Cres. Just got home and the rain started! (Ed. note; RAIN?)
Larry, Laura, Rod and Bobtoc ran Wednesday from the Centre to the Burnaby Lake north trail, continuing into the park to the Nature House before return, time and distance 1:09 and 7 km. The run was EZ, taking time to smell the skunk cabbage. The evening was warm and very humid in the BL park.
Jennel from way out in Coquitlam reports her Wednensday run:
Heather & I met tonight at David & Pinetree, then made our way to the good ‘ol Blue Bridge. (which I think you’re familiar with?), we ran the Trans Canada Trail Run along the Coquitlam River. Nice Run, LOTS of runners along that route! 2 hours total.
…and I alway’s get that horrific Parkway Blvd to get home! (there’s no way of getting around that!)….if it’s not that hill, I have to go up some hill, so I may as well do that one – it’s shorter, more of an incline, but it’s good for the glutes!! “I alway’s hear Libby in the background, saying 1 more, 1 more!!!”
Jennel.

Rod, Laura, Larry and Jennel ran 9.5 km for 1 hour 15 minutes at Rocky Point, appreciating the warm, sunny weather but also the fact that there was shade for about half of the route through the trails. Nice to see Jennel again! A good run, great weather and great company, and we left just as the parking lot was beginning to fill up – that park is a busy place in the summer.
