Mist over the geese at Burnaby Lake

On Monday morning five Cruisers,  Alex, RA Edie, Sherian, together with canines Bella, April and Sasha,  Bob Nadon and Bobtoc met at the Burnaby Lake parking lot under clear skies, a cool temperature wth the customary ground fog over the fields which is part of the Burnaby Lake at this time of the year; ideal weather for a run or walk.  The first three opted to walk the perimeter trails with the dogs, while Bob and Bobtoc opted to run the perimeter.  The first three completed their walk in 2:hours.  Bob and Bobtoc completed their run in 1:21 plus 13 minutes used in walking the spit by the nature house to view the beaver abodes.  The two Bobs encountered Mike and Ernie from Rainy’s group, on the trails, exchanged pleasantries with them.  It was a morning enjoyed by all five as well as the canines.

 Wednesday runs:

From Cameron Centre:
Alex, Larry and Libby ran from the Centre to the IGA corner (Greystone & Burnwood), 9;5 km, time 1:15, on a cool evening, but comfortable for the run, described by Larry as the best night of the year.
In Coquitlam from Jennel:
Heather & I ran 7km tonight from David & Shaughnessy, down Shaughnessy to Lougheed Hwy.  Turned around and ran back.   Total run time was about 40 min. but then we chatted afterwards making our time an hour and a bit.….

On Saturday, Alex, René and Larry ventured out, thinking they could get their run in before the rain, but just 10 minutes into it, the monsoon started and we got quite wet while running along the Burnaby Lake trails to the parking lot.  The trails were starting to flood so we returned to Cameron Centre by running along Winston, which was drier on the feet.  Time 1 hour 20 minutes, distance 12.5 k.   Did I mention we got wet?  Not really the best day of the year but that’s just one person’s opinion.
The California Crew basked in the sun at Pismo Beach.   Too bad they’re missing the rain here!  Results of their half marathon:
Edie Kernighan         2:54:55
Bob Kuhn                    3:05:20  (first, and the only, in his age group!)
Christina Saremba   2:54:54

Bob Nadon and Chris Keeling were running the Energizer Night Race on Saturday night, however no results are available at this time.

I am recovering from the Whistler 50 Relay on Saturday.

I ran stage 2 for the LGRR Silver Foxes team (Men 60+). After more than 6 hours and 39 minutes, we finished the course ahead of the only other Men 60+ team by 2 minutes 44 seconds. A very tight race. The other team was ahead of our team by 8 minutes after stage 6. I finished my stage in  42:24 (~7K) with an average pace of 6:04. The weather on Saturday in Whistler was a mix of snow, rain and sun. between 1 – 3 degree C. ( I heard that Vancouver had hail storm on Friday night and Saturday morning and the Grouse Grind is closed now.) The race was very well organized. I think the  Cruisers should form a team to run next year. I recommend it. Alex
