Alex, Laura and Bob ran Burnaby Lake on Monday morning in the pouring rain in about 1:30 while Edie and Sherian along with Bella, April and Sasha walked in 2 hours and 20 minutes. Miserable day!
Six Cruisers ran or walked from the Centre Wednesday on a mild and dry evening. Rod and Bobtoc walked west on the usual route using Eastlake etal to Underhill Avenue, time 56:21, distance 4.5 km. Runners RA Edie, Larry, Laura and Libby ran on the usual winter route to the IGA corner and return, time 1:27, distance 9 km. They reported more walking than running was executed; time out to enjoy what nature has provided.
Tuesday run by Jennel in east Coquitlam with a bit of advice for Heather:
I just came back from an 1:05 run. Ran 8:15km (love this GPS). I’ll have NO surprises in the Fall Classic for weather? I experienced RAIN, HAIL, then ran a bit farther and got a few bits of snow!!! To my surprise I found just a plain running cap (baseball style) was perfect! It kept the rain/wind/hail & snow out of my eyes, so you may want to use a cap for the Fall Classic?!
Seven Cruisers greeted Heather, Jennel’s Coquitlam running mate, at Rocky Point Saturday on a cold -1C but bright morning Saturday. The eight proceeded on their run to Orchard Park beach and beyond. Edie and Sherian ran to April Road, with Sherian continuing up April Road before the two of them returned to Rocky Point; time 1:20, distance 9.5 km. Larry, Jennel and Heather continued to the Ioco gates and returned to Rocky Point, time 1:40. Alex and Laura joined Bobtoc for their run also to the Ioco gates, and on the way back slowed down considerably and enjoyed the scenery, observed the chum salmon struggling up a stream to their spawning grounds; the fish were in bad shape, engaging in the last acts of their lives. Birds and seagulls were plentiful in the small bay close to the fisheries stream, feasting on the fish. Awesome. Time and distance for this trio, 2.00, 11.3 km.
