Monday activety:
Six Cruisers showed up Monday on a cool but no precip evening. The six walked instead of running. Adele, RA Edie with her dog April, Laura, Larry, Rod and Bobtoc walked west the usual route using Eastlake, Underhill, Forest Grove Drive east to the overpass, return past the Stoney Creek Elementary School, the Beaverbrooks to the Centre. Time 1:25, distance 6+ km. It was a treat to see Adele.
Bob Nadon’s Vancouver Historic Half 10K:
Thanks for the encouragement. It was a beautiful day for a race. I was going at a pretty good pace then I missed the turnaround point. I did 12K today. My official chip time was 1:08:40 but it really took me 56:56 to do 10K. A time I diffinately want to improve. Bob.( Editor’s note: Shades of the Kelowna 10 k a few seasons ago when Adele and Larry missed a turnaround point, and ended up doing 16 k. Bob Nadon, you’re in good company. Enjoy the moment!)
Wednesday activity:
From Cameron Centre:
Rod, Larry, Edie (with April), and Laura took advantage of the break in the rain and did a good walk around the Forest Grove route starting from the Stoney Creek school, over the Gaglardi overpass and you know the rest. It was warmer than on Monday, which was appreciated. Distance 8.25 km, time 1 hour 20 minutes.
In Coquitlam
Not sure who’s doing the Wed. report: Heather & Jennel ran for 53 min. along the Coquitlam River today.
7.39km (just started raining as we were finishing up!)
7.39km (just started raining as we were finishing up!)
Rod and I with Bella and April walked to the corner of Eastlake and Underhill and back. It poured the whole time so you picked a good night to miss but it was a good walk anyways.
Saturday:
Alex and Laurie did the Gunner Shaw run. I don’t know their times, but they both seemed to enjoy the rain, the mud, the sand and the water. I walked part of the course – the ocean was dark and beautiful with the Vancouver skyline as a backdrop. After a change of shoes for all of us and a change of clothes for Alex and Laurie, we enjoyed the post race food and hot drinks and visited with Angela. It was quite a different run with many keeners – I was doing well to stay out of their way.

Sunday:
On Sunday, Christina, Debra and I walked while Laurie ran the Jingle Bell Jog. The rain stopped just before the run began and stayed away until after the door prizes were drawn. None of us wore timing chips, but we 3 walkers were last, coming in with the sweeper – a personal worst for us but a great route to walk and great company along the way, including 4 legged ones to visit. Christina won sun glasses, Laurie won 2 entries to next year’s event and Debra a Nike shirt from the Runners’ Den throws. Afterwards we went for coffee at Tim Horton’s. We will be in the January SNAP magazine, but were missing Larry this year.
