Alex, Rod and Bobtoc ran lsd Monday on a no wind, no rain, best night of the year evening east on Ebert Avenue to Robinson, to Foster through to Blue Mountain St then south to Winslow Avenue through the Coquitlam Recreation complex, continuing east to Hillcrest St. to Mumdy Park, then north to Foster Avenue, west to Robinson, south to Accacia Avenue and Appian Way, north on Whiting to the right of way leading to North Road and Cameron St to the Centre. Time and distance, 104 minutes, 11 km. The extra hour of sunlight was appreciated.
Five Cruisers showed up under monsoon conditions Wednesday. Encouraged by Captain Bligh aka Libby, Alex and Bobtoc were pressed against their will to run, and Larry and Rod to walk. The five waded onto Cameron Strait which looked like beach front, then Eastlake (well named under the circumstances of weather) to move west, the walkers’ mission being to walk to Underhill and return, and the three runners to do the Forest Grove Drive route counterclockwise, using the Gaglardi overpass on the return to the Centre, motivated during the outing by Bligh sayings such as scurvey lot. Needless to say the five were thoroughly soaked by the time they reached port at the Centre. Time and distance respectively for the walkers and runners, 50 minutes and 5 k and 60 minutes and 7 k. Our thanks to Captain Libby for leading the mission.

Mon./Wed. report. Monday, I went to my Zumba class with all the “Mama’s” What a workout! Wed. I went for an hour run/walk inside Port Moody Track. Next Monday, Heather & I are meeting up at the outdoor track at Lafarge Lake with the group of “Zumba Mama’s” and we’re all doing a big walk. (Next week is Spring break in the schools, so our gym where we do Zumba is closed).
Quote from one of the “Mama’s” – “Better to meet up for a walk, than do the dishes!!! ha! ha!

Four Cruisers ran or walked from the Burnaby Lake parking lot to use the Central Valley Parkway heading west from the old Sperling Avenue, onto the trail to Douglas Road then to Still Creek Road. Alex and Bobtoc ran to Gilmore Avenue and return, time and distance 1:25 and approx 9.5 k. Larry and Rod walked to Willingdon Avenue and return, time and distance 1:40 and approx 8.5 k. The weather was cool, showery. Alex ran in the pm, his goal being to cover 29 km on the day.
Meanwhile, other Cruisers were busy Saturday and Sunday:
Laura, Laurie and I ran the St. Patrick’s Day Run in Stanley Park on Saturday in 29:57. 31:53 and 36:54, respectively. It rained but lightly the whole way but still a beautiful route. There were 1800 runners which was a run sell out. We had a beer afterwards to celebrate our Irish heritage, connections or whatever. It was very crowded in the food tent and the bar/patio. We managed to figure out the parking meter between the 3 of us quite quickly – teamwork – whereas some took about 5 minutes. Another fun Cruiser event but think we’ll stick closer to home next St. Paddy’s Day. Edie
Flora and Ross ran/walked the Green Sock 5k run on a beautiful day Sunday. Their stats:
Flora 43:31: 7
No rain this year! Yea!
