Ahh, Daylight running!  Sunshine!  No rain!  Needliess to say, the best night of the year!  Alex, RA Edie, Laura, Rod and Bobtoc basked in the conditions enjoyed Monday evening as they ran from the Centre to Como Lake and return.  The five took it easy, enjoyed the scenery of mountains and new houses being built along the route.  The five used Ebert Avene, Robinson St, Foster Avenue, Lakeshore, the trail around the Lake, Smith, Cottonwood, Sprice Ave and Street, Robinson, Accacia and Appian Way, Whiting St, and return to the Centre.  Time and distance, 90 minutes, 8:5 km.
From Jennel in Coquitlam:
Reporting the Monday WALK  with the Zumbas Mama’s!  Heather came to join in and we all had a nice 1.5hr walk starting at Lafarge Lake, then we walked along David, up some hills, down some hills, and back to Lafarge. Had good laughs and good non-stop conversation!!!   (I know that’s hard to believe with 6 women, but it’s true!)

No one ran in the evening due to the monsoon and wind conditions in the Burnaby-Coquitlam area.
Rod ran in the morning.  He reports:  Went out this morning from home to the old IGA, then back up Shellmont and through Forest Grove back home. Time out 1h25, distance 11 km.
See you Saturday.
Wisdom from Rob and Nancy:  We cancelled our run today as well. One look outside when we got home made us long for a glass of wine. A thought we willingly and quickly submitted to.  25 days until Boston! One more long run on Sunday then time to taper. They still seem to be getting snow back east so I hope it warms up a little soon.

Thursday’s events:

Jennel from Coquitlam:  Reporting Heather’s & my run…Thurs. afternoon.  We both ran from our homes to meet at Lafarge Lake, we then ran together for an hour & change.  Total time…..1:45 each!  Good Run!!!  (there are too many hills in this area!?!)   Jennel

Seven runners or walkers met at the Bby Lake parking lot Saturday on a sunny and cool morning.,perfect conditions for the tasks at hand.   The seven headed north via the old Sperling Ave road, west to Douglas Road, crossed to Still Creek road and continued to Gilmore Ave via the Central Valley Parkway and the Skytrain path.   Runners Alex, Larry, Rod and Bobtoc ran to Renfrew St and returned to the parking lot.  Distance 15 km, time 2:20.
Walkers Christina, Edie and Susan Jones did the following:   Hi Bob,
We got to Tim Horton’s near Science World about 10:30 am (12k), had a refreshment (no lardballs) and took the sky train back to Burnaby Lake.  We got back about 11:40 am, total distance was about 13k.  It was a perfect day for a walk – nice to run into people you know, too.  R A Edie
Alex Lau continued his run into Central Burnaby.  I will reproduce his report when he sends it.
First things first:  Here is the continuation of Alex’s Saturday run after the return of the four runners to the Burnaby Lake parking lot. Harry’s Spring Run Off 8k on Sunday:

Laura and I and Eoin, our one Athletic Supporter, participated in the 8k Spring Run Off today.  Laura’s time was 48:21 and mine was 57:44.  There was  a long hill at the end which slowed me down – it wasn’t my friend!  It was a great day for a run in a beautiful setting and a new route starting at the Stanley Park Pavilion.  No hats at the finish line this year as the run is not sponsored by Harry Rosen now.   There was about 900 less than at the St. Patrick’s Day Run so a lot less congested.  Great shirts this year.  We had coffee on the way home at Starbuck’s.  Edie.
