Alex, Edie with canine April, Rod and Bobtoc on Monday evening opted to walk from the Centre to North Road using the Stoney Creek trail and return, taking into account the warm evening, and the fact that Alex had run the marathon Sunday.  Time and distance, one hour, four kilometres.

From Coquitlam:

Heather & I both ran separately from our homes to our Zumba class.  Enjoyed 1 hour of dancing and doing the limbo, then Heather ran to Hyde Creek to watch her daughter’s volleyball; and I ran home and was a sucker for punishment and did 2km of hill reps to finish off the evening!  Run distance was aprox 8km.

As you all know, Bobtoc ran the Sun Run for pledges for First United Church.  The congregation of Cliff Avenue United Church with help from donations from the Cruisers raised and collected $2,010, which has been remitted to First Church.  My heartfelt thanks to members of the Cruisers who so kindly contributed!

Libby, Larry, Rod and Bobtoc ran lsd style from the Centre to Eastlake, Arden and Greystone via Underhill to Shellmont, hung a right, burned? up the hill to Underhill, east on Forest Grove Drive to the Centre via the overpass and then the usual way back.  Libby showed us photos of her new grandson born to daughter Asia in Alberta, a preemie, doing well, plus connected via her I phone to her daughter enroute.  Beats semaphore by a country mile!  Time and distance, 80 minutes, 8.75 km.

Rod’s Friday run:

I went out from home this morning up through Lake City, on to Old IGA and beyond the usual way. Turned around at 6.12 km and came back via Shellmont and Forest Grove. Time out 1h45, distance 12.25 km. You will be glad to know that they are digging up the tree roots on the section of the paved trail near the foot of Underhill (where the wooden walkway was last week). Should be finished and repaved early next week. The Burnaby Mountain school section near the traffic lights is also slated for repair soon.  Have a good run tomorrow. I will be building bird houses.

On Saturday morning Edie with canine April, Larry, Laurie and Bobtoc fartlecked a route using the Stoney Creek trail to the bridge over the creek leading to the elementary school grounds where the four saw, stopped and talked with Pat Hargreaves manhandling folding tables for the Great Salmon Sendoff to take place that morning at the school grounds, then onward to the Gaglardi pedestrian overpass to Forest Grove Drive, west thereon to the trails paralleling the Drive to Underhill, continued west on the Shellmont Trans Mountain Trail, crossed Arden Drive, ran west to enter the trail in the golf course to run as far as the baseball pitches where Bobtoc took a ride down the children’s slide in the nearby playground, then reversed our steps on that trail back to  Arden Drive continuing to -Broadway to use the newly paved trail near the foot of Underhill that Rod discussed in his Friday report, up Underhill to Forest Grove Drive, then ran east to the Gaglardi overpass,  re-entered the school grounds precisely at 10:00 am where the foursome was greeted by Terry, a former Sun Run Clinic trainee, then her husband Ryan, both of whom are acrossthestreet neighbours of Rod and Pat who also greeted the foursome.  The Cruisers burned a minimum of 10 minutes at the school grounds before continuing the journey back to the Centre.  Time, distance and weather, 2 hours, 12 km, humid but no precip, a comfortable temperature.
