March 10th:
RA Edie, Larry, Laura, Rod, Alex and Bobtoc met at the Bby Lake parking lot Saturday on a rain-threatening morning.  The six paired off as follows:  Edie and Larry to walk.   They  walked the Burnaby Lake/Millenium Skytrain route just past the Nissan car dealership on Still Creek Road before meeting Rod and Laura who were returning from their run.  It looked like the monsoon rain was going to start soon, so  turned around and returned, finishing just as some sprinkling of precip was starting. Distance 8.78 km, time 1h 43 Laura and Rod ran, their distance and time also on the Central Valley Parkway 9.5 km, being to the Gilmore Avenue Skytrain station and return to the lake, time  about 1 hour. Alex and Bobtoc ran on to Renfrew St, took a whiz break there at McDonald’s.  Bobtoc returned to the lake whilst Alex continued west to Victoria Drive and return.  Bobtoc’s distance 14.5 km, Alex’s 18.3, time for both being 2:24 inclusive of 5 minutes for said break.  Alex and Bobtoc experienced only a fine mist in the last few minutes of their runs, although rain became heavier before the two headed for home.

In Coquitlam, Jennel finds some friends Saturday:  From my house, I ran down David, turned R. on Coast Meridian (8km so far).  Getting rather tired, I look up and see this group of runners coming towards me on the other side of the road.  Quick decision, I run fast to the cross-walk, run across road and catch up to them.  Introduce myself and join in (P. Coquitlam Extreme Running Group out of Hyde Creek Rec. Centre)!  Safer and better company!  So we ran towards the Blue Bridge (which we all know) and I clocked on another 5km or so with them.  After the blue bridge, ran down Patricia, to Oxford, ran through Glen Park, up Pinetree, back to David, up Johnson to Panorama, then to Sandstone, a couple laps around the cup-de-sacs on my street, then home making the run just shy of a HALF MARATHON….total run 20.33km, in 2:23  and still had energy to clean 3 bathrooms in our house!!
Len and Miriam are in Hawaii!  Sigh!!

March 10th:
RA Edie,  Rod, Alex , Norman and Bobtoc showed up Monday at the Centre on a cool to cold, breezy evening.  Edie took off with canine April on her own since the four males were conversing inside the Centre with another guy about prostates.  Yikes!  In any event Edie ran the usual Forest Grove route, km 7.8, her time 1:05.  The four males set out walking.  Rod and Bobtoc went as far as Underhill and Eastlake before returning; 5 km and 54 minutes.  Norman and Alex from Underhill started their run and completed the usual Forest Grove route, 7.8 km and 54 minutes.

Len and Miriam Crosstraining:  The big black cloud provided a dramatic back drop. I called to Miriam to stop while I took a quick picture. Seconds later a snowboarder came flying by me and did not see Miriam on the slope below me and slammed into her. Both of them slid down the hill about 10 meters and came to a stop in a heap. I expected the worst. I called to Miriam, are you OK? Are you OK? No reply. She slowly started moving still in shock at what happened. Something hard had hit her head (fortunately she was wearing her helmet) and she had a headache initially and now has been having a sore neck. She also has a big bruise on her leg, but luckily she is basically OK, praise the Lord. See the pictures below. Also go to the beginning to see our other pictures from last week’s skiing and cross country skiing at Whistler and Callaghan.
