Coquitlam Cruisers:
On Monday morning….Jennel got dropped off at Heather’s..then the 2 gals ran down Shaughnessy to Costco and return.  Total run: 14.12 in the Heat!  But we escaped the direct sunlight, as Shaughnessy is covered in trees for the most part.
Wednesday May 16 2018:  On Wednesday night, a pleasant sunny and slightly cooler evening saw Rod, Larry, Alex and Flora walk the Forest Grove route taking Beaverbrook past the Stoney Creek elementary school, up across the Gaglardi overpass, up the big hill and you know the rest of the route back to Cameron Centre.  One of the best evenings of the year, talk was about the Peach City activity and floods; distance 6.5 km and time 1h15.

Sunday May 20 2018:  Penticton Peach City 10K Results!
10 Cruisers and athletic supporters made their way to Penticton this weekend, despite the flooding in the Okanagan-Similkameen area which receded a bit and allowed unimpeded travel via the Crowsnest and Coquihalla Highways.  8 of us had our traditional pre-race dinner on Saturday night at the Villa Rosa restaurant, and the sun came out for the Sunday 10K and half marathon (no Cruisers ran the half this year).   Running/walking times are as follows:
Alex Lau              1:10:55  1stin M70+  !!!
Rod Hargreaves 1:17:48  3rdin M70+  !!!
Larry Kuhn          1:28:51

Saturday May 24 2018:
On Saturday morning at the suggestion of Larry, Alex, Rod, Susan, Eoin and Laura, Larry, Edie with canine April, and Bobtoc walked t0 the north trail leading to Burnaby Lake under light cloud and temperature of about 20C, as far as the nature house at Piper Avenue before returning to the Centre.  The  eight  observed Canada geese and their goslings, also ducks with ducklings in the lake amid the lily pads covering the surface water on the lake, plus the old growth evergreen trees along the route; all in all a pleasant outing.  Time and distance respectively,  1:56 and 7.8/

Sunday May 27 2018:  Edie, John and Christina joined the Friends of DeBoville for a nature walk along the slough to the Pitt River.  Lots of birds were spotted along with a mama bear and her 2 cubs in the blueberry fields.  The cubs were frolicking with each other but not straying far from mama.

We are truly blessed to live in such a beautiful place close to nature and trails.

Congratulations to John on his retirement.  One of the perks.

Monday May 28th: Rod, Laura, Edie with April, and Bobtoc on Monday evening chose to walk the Stoney Creek trail, taking into account the temperature, being over 20 oC.  Time and distance, 54 minutes and 4:15 km respectively.

On Saturday Ivan went out and did 15K in 1h47m – saw a young coyote roaming by the golf course (on the sidewalk) so I had to proceed with caution around there just in case there was a pack (there wasn’t)
On Tuesday Ivan went out to do some hills 🙂 – 7.5K in 55min,  See the route:
Coquitlam Cruisers:
Jennel Ran down the Coquitlam Crunch on Monday morning, making her way over to Rocky Point – ran along the trail for a bit, then proceeded back on Guilford Way, making her way UP Noons Creek, back to Panorama, then Sandstone Crescent….9km….definitely got in hill work for a month I say!!! LOL
On Tuesday morning Jennel hiked the Coquitlam Crunch…6km.  Part of it with Nellie, our dog,  then dropped her off at home and did the rest!  Daily routine these days!!!  Scott Creek Middle School was doing a challenge, so that made me pick up the pace!!! LOL=

Wednesday May 30th:  Alex, Rod, Larry, Laura, Edie with April, and Bobtoc on Wednesday evening again used the Stoney Creek trail and continued onto North Road to Chapman Avenue, then east to Clarke Road then south North Road back to the Centre.  Alex and Larry were well ahead of the others; their time and distance 1:18 and 6.2 km.  The other four used a similar route but dipped down into the Sullivan Heights area north of Lyndhurst School after dipsey doodling in the streets west of North Road, continued on Lyndhurst to Willoughby, then into a trail which led very close to the rear of the Centre building; the time and distance for the four were 1:34 and 6.2 km.  The six enjoyed a decent temperature and some cloud cover.
