Ivan went for a 12K (1h 29m) on a different route:

Wednesday June 20 On Wednesday evening, Rod, Larry and Flora found a way to beat the near 30 C heat by walking from Cam Centre down to Government and over to the entrance to Joe’s trail and taking a slight detour to the RV park store where the three had ice cream of varying flavours.  Then they headed over to the entrance to the Burnaby Lake trails and watched the turtle beach, and saw a turtle digging a nest, probably in preparation for egg laying.  We still got a distance of 5.2 km in a time of 1h28.   No sign of a new fence by the sidewalk to Cam Centre, it may be gone for good.  L

Thursday June 21 Edie, Flora and June headed to

Denman and Nelson for the inaugural 5k Run/Walk at Devonian Harbour Park on the sky train.  The swag included a shirt, hat, water bottle, sun glasses
