Sept 01
On Monday 6:30 p.m. Alex, Edie, Kevin, Larry, Rene, Rod, Susan and Bobtoc walked to and from the Stoney Creek trail. Edie and Rene ran 5.5 km in the same time as the others walked the 4 km return, being 55 minutes. Rod came in a bit earlier than the others. The group enjoyed the dry weather and comfortable temperature.
Coquitlam Cruisers:
Heather and Jennel met at Town Centre Friday morning and ran 3 laps then back to their homes…15 km each! Our plan is to run the Michelob “Virtual” Ultra Night Run Oct 2-4th 10 k run! Looks awesome!! And for every km run, a meal is delivered to those in need of food.
Great Cause!! It’s a 5 km or 10 km run; we will be doing the 10 km
Sept 03
On Wednesday 6.30 p.m. on a pleasant evening, Alex, Kevin, Larry, Susan and Bobtoc walked from Cameron Centre to the Stoney Creek trail to the Stoney Creek Elementary School grounds, continuing to the Gaglardi overpass, hung a left to the trail parallel to the Forest Grove Drive, continued to Production Drive down to Eastlake to return to the Centre; time 1hr 27 min, distance approx. 4.6 km.
Sept 05
On Saturday morning, Alex, Flora, Kevin, Larry, Susan, Rachel Lindquist, and Bobtoc walked from the Squint Lake parking lot to the Kensington Shopping Centre adjacent to Kensington Avenue, using some of the same course used recently on our treks firstly to the BNHS school sites, then Vancouver (Burnaby) Heights, and enjoyed a comfortable temperature despite the cloudy skies.
Rachel was welcomed back after a long time since her last outings with the group. Time, 1hr 20 min, distance 5.1 km.
Five of the walkers debriefed with coffee at the golf club after their arrival back.
Sept 07 – Labour Day
On Monday Alex, Kevin, Larry, Susan, Rod and Bobtoc walked from Cameron Centre on Labour Day to Burnaby Lake Park, using Cariboo Avenue then into the north trail, but when reaching the Dam bridge, waked south over the bridge and continued on the trail at the south side of the Burnaby Lake Park instead of the north side.
The six continued their trek, although Rod and Bobtoc moved at a faster rate, would you believe, than the youthful, (term used loosely?) and continued on the trail closest to Highway 1, then north onto the trail near the asphalt road leading back to the lake parking lot, then onto the north trail, continuing east passing Piper Spit and all the familiar route we all know.
The two older, distinguished chaps lost sight of the others, continued back to Cameron Centre, not having seen the younger four. Time, 3h 21m. distance walked: 16 km.
Eventually the four showed up about 15 minutes later, laden with apples they picked off the ground somewhere en-route, thereby accounting for their later time of arrival.
Apples were offered as one supposes as bribes for their late arrival. The two older chaps would have no part of it. Having said al that, the six all enjoyed the weather, the route, the camaraderie, and the feeling of satisfaction of a great walk. A Labour Day to remember to be sure.
Sept 10
On Wednesday evening, Edie with her niece Shannon, Alex, Kevin, Larry, Susan, Rod and Bobtoc walked from Cameron Centra to the Stoney Creek trail and returned due to the high outside temperature. Distance 4 km, time 1 hr.
Sept 12
On Saturday morning, Alex, Edie, Kevin, Larry, Susan and Bobtoc met at the Centre. Taking into account the smoke in the air from fires in the US states Washington, Oregon and California the six decided to limit our walk to use of the Stoney Creek trail, where the air may be less serious due the surrounding trees.
The six therefore walked to the North Road gate and returned. Time, 55 min. 17 seconds; distance of course 4 km.
