From Kevin – I ran into Renee & Denise out for a walk the other day. We had a good chat on the street. On Monday, Jan 18, I kayaked Burnaby Lake & Still Creek for the first time. It was a bit challenging to launch the kayak because of construction at the Rowing Club. Managed to wheel the kayaks through construction for Fortis at Still Creek. Tried to drive down to the dock but the flag women told us to go to the gate by the archery. Totally different view on the water.
Editor’s note – it sure was a gorgeous day. Kevin also sent some info about the Vancouver Sun Virtual 10 K Walk or Run – see upcoming events.
I am continuing my slow return to running, on Wednesday did 5.5 km in 42 minutes. Cardio still needs work but I’m just happy to be able to be out there!
Other Cruisers continue to get out for walks and runs – Edie, Alex and Flora, with Alex and Flora doing some jogging/interval training too. Rod and Pat are walking every day and Rod did some interval training last week as well.
Hoping everyone is staying safe and finding some ways to exercise. Drop me a note if you’re up to something and want to report how you’re keeping active. Inspire us!

Hi everyone, just passing on the latest news from the Cruisers:
From Jennel: Monday morning Heather drove over to Jennel’s and from there, the two of them ran UP the Coquitlam Crunch, then made their way over to Diamond Cres. then down a section of the Crunch, crossed over David Ave. then over down a trail to Port Moody (path between Panorama Rd and David), 5 km. We then turned around and retraced our steps, still getting in MANY hills and found a path through a bunch of trees like we were in the forest! 10 km run, hike and adventure! Beautiful sunny day, good company and great conversation…..It just doesn’t get any better than this 🙂 Best run of the year!!!
From myself: I continue my running resurrection, again on Wednesday evening I mostly jogged 5.5 km in about 50 minutes, went along the paved trail on Arden to Broadway to Underhill, down Underhill to Eastlake, then returned the same way. Although my cardio needs work, it will come, and I continue to feel good both before and after running, as long as I stretch before and after.
Other Cruisers continue to get out for walks and runs – Edie, Alex and Flora, with Alex and Flora doing some jogging/interval training too.
Hoping everyone is staying safe and finding some ways to exercise.

Hi everyone, just passing on the latest news from the Cruisers:
From Jennel: Monday Morning, Jennel, her 2 dogs and virtual personal trainers, Hal Higdon & Jeff Galloway started the week with a nice 11.5 km run. Down Lansdowne to Barnet Hwy, then back up…cutting across to the Coquitlam crunch and hiking a bit of that just to give “the dogs” a break!!! LOL
Ciao for now…..Hope everyone is doing well, staying safe & Healthy.
P.S. I run with a mask that is usually on my chin, but if I pass someone I flip the mask up over my mouth. I have Lots of masks…..cute running masks with dogs on it. We make it work!!!
From myself: I have been able to do some interval training and jogging. So far so good, but my cardio needs work – it will come as I keep going. Last Wednesday evening I mostly jogged 5 km in about 53 minutes, went along the paved trail on Arden to Broadway to Underhill, then returned the same way. Thanks to Flora, Edie and Alex for their encouragement! Rod says hi to the Cruisers and is doing well.
Hoping everyone is staying safe and finding some ways to exercise.
