Flora jogged most of the way on the route, then she and René jogged as they neared North Road, and then jogged on the way back. Alex and Len also jogged part of the way to North Road and on the way back.

Flora and René’s time was about 1h35, Len, Alex, Miriam and Liane’s time was about 1h40 and Kevin, Edie and Larry’s time was about 1h48. Distance for all was about 10 km.

Stay cool and hydrated everyone!

On Wednesday evening Brenda, Glenn, Larry, Flora and Ross walked the shady Stoney Creek trail to North Road, and while Larry and Ross headed back from there, Brenda, Glenn and Flora continued walking up North Road to Chapman and returned the same way.

Their distance was 5 km while Larry and Ross’s distance was just under 4 km.

The shade did help on a hot evening. Later on, Ross and Flora went to Rocky Point where double chocolate raspberry ice cream was the order of the day!

Stay cool and hydrated everyone!

The group took the trail back to the Centre, while Alex jogged down Rathburn Drive to a shortcut and back to the trail.

On Saturday morning, RA Edie, Kevin, Alex, Larry, Liane and Ivan and canine Lulu walked at Rocky Point, going along the shoreline trail to the beach area at Inlet Park, and up and along Alderside Road to its intersection with Ioco Road, returning along Alderside and the upper paved trail from Inlet Park to Rocky Point.

The group’s distance was about 10 km in a time of approximately 2 hours. Alex continued jogging along the shoreline trail of Rocky Point Park to the pier, adding about 1 km to his distance. We, of course, stayed after the walk and had ice cream from the Rocky Point Ice Cream Shop, which was sublime as usual!

The timing of our walk worked out perfectly as it wasn’t too crowded on the trails and the parking lot was full when we got back. The sunny summer weather was enjoyed by all.

Saturday morning saw Alex, RA Edie, Larry, Flora, Len, Miriam (and Jax!) set out from Cameron Centre down Cameron through the trail that leads to Government St., along Government to Cariboo Road and on to Joe’s trail which the group walked along to North Road, then returned the same way.  It misted – is that officially rain? something lighter than real rain though, and it was refreshing.

Our distance was about 10 km and our time was just under 2 hours.

From Jennel: Jennel ran 10.75 km down to Coquitlam Town Centre with her two dogs, did a lap around the track, said hi to husband Tony who was playing volleyball, then Jennel ran back home with her dogs.  She was planning on doing the Coquitlam Crunch but it was busy so she did an alternative route!

On Wednesday evening, Larry, RA Edie, Liane, Glenn and Brenda met at the Centennial Park parking lot at Burnaby Mountain and walked along a trail behind the park which led to a road to SFU. Once we got to SFU we walked through the convocation mall and up to the academic quadrangle and down a street that has all sorts of stores and restaurants on it. Quite the development that has gone on there over the past few years!

Unfortunately Edie had a fall on some stairs but she is doing okay. We then got back to the park on Burnaby Mountain and saw the rose garden, which was blooming and was beautiful in all of its colours ranging from orangey beige to deep purple. There were ones in all hues of red as well. Definitely worth seeing.

Our distance was just under 4 km and our walking time was over one hour, but that was due to our stopping and smelling the roses (literally!) and sight-seeing.

Glenn and Larry walked up to Gilroy at the crosswalk, Brenda and Liane walked up to Chapman and we returned along the trail. Alex jogged along Noel Drive, said hello to Rod and Pat who were out walking along Noel as well, then Alex continued jogging down Norcrest and onto Stoney Creek trail to North Road, then started his return along Rathburn, took the short cut trail back to Stoney Creek trail, and joined the walkers as we returned to Cameron Centre.

Time for all in the group was 57 minutes. Distance varied – for Larry and Glenn, 4 km, Kevin and Edie just under 4 km, Brenda and Liane 5 km, and Alex 6.4 km.

The weather was beautiful – a sunny summer evening.

On Saturday morning, the group met at Confederation Park and welcomed Bobtoc back with us as Flora, Edie, Judy, René, Kevin, Alex and Larry joined in walking four laps around the track, then we broke for coffee and snacks at a picnic table near the track. The weather was a bit cloudy but it wasn’t too cold to sit and relax a bit. René and Flora walked an additional three laps around the track.

Distance for the group was 1 mile (1.6 km) and walk time was about 45 minutes. René and Flora’s distance was 1.75 miles (2.8 km).

Unfortunately Bobtoc had a fall in the parking lot after, but as of the time of this report, happy to report he is okay.

On Wednesday evening, Edie, her friend Judy, Kevin, Larry, Barry and his canine Bebe walked from the Centennial Park parking lot at Burnaby Mountain along the trails behind the park to Ring Road and SFU, toured around the fairly new and brand new student accommodation buildings, then went on to the rotunda area, back to Ring Road and returned among the trails to the picnic and rose garden area in the park.

Our distance was about 4 km and our time was about 50 minutes. The group then met Flora in the parking lot and got our chairs and sat for a while on the mountain slope by the totem poles, admiring the view of the city. Flora stayed longer for the sundown, which was getting better as there was some clearing in the sky.

It was nice to see Barry!

On Saturday morning, Kevin, Larry, Alex and Flora walked the Stoney Creek trail, up North Road, crossed Como Lake Road and walked along Clarke Road to the Bjornbar bakery for coffee.

Our walk distance was about 3 km and our time was 40 minutes, not including coffee time which was quite relaxing.  The weather was still sunny so that helped too.
