On Wednesday evening, René, Alex, Kevin, Brenda, Glenn and Larry met at Cameron Centre and walked along the Stoney Creek trail to North Road. René, Brenda, Alex and Larry walked up North Road to Chapman then met Kevin and Glenn at North Road and the trail. It was twilight by then so the group returned by going south along North Road to Stoney Creek Ave., down Stoney Creek Ave. to Noel Drive, to Beaverbrook, Cameron and back to the Centre.
Distance was 5.1 km, time 1h08. Most likely it was the last weeknight walk/run on the trail until next spring (sob!).

On Monday evening Glenn, Brenda and René ran the Stoney Creek trail up to Chapman, and returned the same way – distance 5 km and time 37 minutes. A great way to enjoy the awesome summer-like weather!
From Jennel: On Monday she and her two dogs walked the Coquitlam Crunch and went down to the Barnet area where the pet store is, distance of 10 km. She had to stop at the dog park to reload water – human and dog water fountains there!

On Saturday morning, it was a glorious sunny day as René, Flora, Larry, Len, Miriam and canine Jax walked down Cameron and through the trail that goes from Eastlake to Government St. (despite notifications from the city that it’s closed, it is still open!), along Government, Cariboo and into the Burnaby Lake trails to Piper Spit, where there were lots of ducks and photographers, and the water level was quite low. The trails are in great shape, having recently been raised with compacted gravel. Larry and René did a brisk walk back, doing a distance of 8 km in a time of 1h47, while Flora, Len, Miriam and Jax did the same distance in just under 2 hours. René ran from home to the Centre and back home, so he did an extra 2 km.
Larry saw Ivan and his canine Lulu on the Stoney Creek trail afterwards – Ivan says hello to all the Cruisers!

On Sunday, some of the Cruisers participated in the Terry Fox Run at various locations. Alex ran his 5.1 km route in a time of 61 minutes in and around Central Park in Burnaby, while René, Denise and Edie walked the 5 km course at Mundy Park in Coquitlam. Thank you for supporting the cause for cancer research!!
On Monday evening Larry, Kevin, René, Glenn and Brenda met at Cameron Centre and walked the Stoney Creek trail to North Road. From Jennel: On Tuesday Jennel went for a walk down Noons Creek all the way to Barnet, then cut across to the Coquitlam Crunch and walked up, stopped at the dog park for her two dogs to get some water, walked 10 km and felt good. She enjoyed the view from a lawn chair near the top of the Crunch.

On Saturday morning, Edie, René, Alex, Liane and Larry met at Rocky Point and walked along the shoreline trail and then on Alderside and up to Ioco Road, then returned the same way, distance 10 km and time 1h47. On Alderside there were mobile dressing rooms and catering equipment and tables across from one of the houses which was being used for filming for a TV show. Sadly we were too late for the catered breakfast and too early for lunch.
We all were moving a bit quicker and some of us jogged for some of the way with René leading the way, partly due to the cooler temperature which warmed up nicely on our way back. Of course we enjoyed some ice cream after, always a benefit from going there.

We enjoyed the ice cream! It was a beautiful sunny morning (we finished before the smoke rolled in) and slightly less busy in the park than we have seen recently.

René and Flora jogged part of the way, and Larry did some brief jogging intervals. René jogged to the Centre from home to meet the group, then ran home starting from Gatensbury, his distance about 12 km.
The rest of the group’s distance was about 10 km and our time was about 2h15. It was a much cooler temperature than we’ve been used to lately, and cloudy too. Turning of the seasons!
