A cool morning walk with the sun peeking in and out from Confederation Park to New Brighton Park. On the way, we took the detour, which added to our step count, but on the way back we went by the barricade to stay on the trail. Nine of us enjoyed the walk followed by snacks/lunch at Kensington Park.

Edie

On Monday morning, the group met at Confederation Park and walked along the McGill trail, and part of McGill St., under the Second Narrows Bridge, to New Brighton Park and around the park, then returned mostly the same way, except for taking the trail the entire way on the way back. It looked like the park pool had recently been updated as it was a walk-in pool that gradually deepened, and there were dedicated swimming lanes. It was cloudy and cooler outside than it was last week.

Edie, Kevin, Brenda, Glenn, Nikita, Alex, Larry, and Edie’s friends Maureen, Greg and their dog Chester attended. Alex jogged most of the way and did a little extra in Confederation Park, his distance was 10.2 km and time approximately 2h20. The rest of the group’s distance was about 8.8 km and same approximate time.

Afterwards many in the group enjoyed fish and chips from Cockney Kings, or Starbucks snacks, at a picnic table in Kensington Park.

May 14 – Happy Mother’s Day

On Saturday morning, in glorious sunny summer weather, René, Flora, Liane and Larry met at Cameron Centre and walked to Rocky Point almost all the way on trails. Yes, it turns out that the Trans Canada Trail continues on the north side of Barnet Highway near the shoreline. Thanks to Liane for researching it and suggesting the route! The gang walked the Stoney Creek trail, up the North Road trail on Burnaby Mountain, continued up the powerline trail, then past the junction area and all the way down to Barnet Hwy east of Barnet Marine Park, crossed the highway and along the Trans Canada Trail all the way to Douglas St., then took Clarke St. to the Moody St. overpass and into Rocky Point park where ice cream was enjoyed by all.
