On Saturday morning it was drizzly but not pounding rain, so the group soldiered on and walked down the trail between Eastlake and Government St., to Cariboo Road and into the Burnaby Lake trails which we took to Piper Spit, then we returned the same way. Edie, Liane, Kevin, Len and Jax, and Larry walked, our distance 7.5 km and our time 1h48.
Flora stopped by to say hello and we saw Nikita as well before they left for their Fit First running clinic. They did interval run/walk for 5 km and I think Rachel attended as well.

On Monday evening, remarkably it did not rain while the Cruisers were out walking and jogging! Kevin, Liane, Sandy, Brenda, Glenn, Edie, Flora, Nikita, and Larry walked along Beaverbrook, Eastlake, up Underhill to Broadway, where Flora jogged further partway up Underhill then returned to the group, and we returned the same way. Flora and Nikita did walk/run intervals throughout the route, keeping things going for their running clinic.
Our distance was 5.2 km and our time was about 1h10. The sidewalks and walkway on Eastlake were mostly clear of snow, good conditions for our return after last week’s snow.
Earlier in the evening, Alex jogged between Sussex and Royal Oak East to West, his distance 5.27 km and time just over 50 minutes.

On Saturday morning, as the slush and slippery sidewalks and trails made it difficult to walk, some of the Cruisers met at IHOP at Lougheed Mall for breakfast. Larry, Liane, René, Denise and Edie enjoyed a meal. Flora showed up later from her run at her running clinic – herself, Nikita and Rachel did a run on the challenging terrain with the Fit First group. Some mall walking was done by some in our group – food shopping! Hopefully the weather will allow us to get back to our regular walk/runs.

It is too slushy and slippery for outdoor walking at this time.
Thanks to Flora and Kevin for the update on walking conditions and suggestions for alternative ideas!

On Monday evening Kevin, Liane, Brenda, Glenn, Sandy, Flora, Nikita and Larry walked along Beaverbrook and Eastlake to Underhill and returned the same way, distance 4.5 km and time 1h02. No rain or snow, but It was a bit chilly and there was some ice along the sidewalk of Eastlake, so we were careful. Flora and Nikita did run/walk intervals, 2 min and 2 min, for all of the route, doing their “homework” for their running clinic.

On Saturday morning, Len, who walked to the Christine Sinclair Centre from his home, and Larry joined Flora, Nikita and Rachel as they prepared for their first session of the Fit First running clinic. We all listened to the welcome speech, and admirably, the runners then started out on their route outdoors while the temperature was somewhere between -14 C and -11 C.
At least it was sunny and everyone seemed enthusiastic. Meanwhile, Len and Larry had hot chocolate indoors. Len saw Joe Turtle and said hello. {It looked like Joe and Rainy Kent were leading the 5 km distance group.}
