On Monday evening Brenda, Glenn, Hazra, Kevin, Liane, Flora, and Larry walked from the mall along Cameron, through Cameron Park, and Eastlake. Kevin, Glann, and Larry walked to Production Way and returned, their distance about 5 km and time about 1 hour; Flora, Hazra, Brenda and Liane walked to Underhill and returned, their distance about 6 km and time about the same. It was another nice evening to be out – no precipitation and not too cold.

On Saturday morning Edie, Kevin, Liane, Rod, Hazra, René, Larry, Shiraz, Len and Miriam walked from the Burnaby Mountain golf course along Woodbrook, Augusta, Kitchener to Duthie, then along the urban trail to Sherlock, back on the urban trail to Westridge school, and on to Kensington Shopping Centre, then returned the same way. Our distance was 6 km and time 1h20. It was a beautiful crisp, sunny morning. Most of the group had coffee at the golf course coffee shop afterwards.
Also on Saturday morning, Flora jogged 30 minutes with the Fit First running group at the Christine Sinclair Centre and said hello to a couple of Cruisers from days gone by, Howie and Denise. Flora was also out walking with us on Wednesday evening – my apologies to her for accidentally omitting her from my last report!

On Wednesday evening Larry, Edie, Kevin, Glenn, Brenda, Liane, Rod, Hazra, and René walked from the mall along Cameron, Cameron Park, Eastlake, where Hazra, Edie, Kevin and Larry walked to Production Way then returned, their distance about 5 km and time about 1h10; Glenn, Brenda, Liane, Rod and René walked to Underhill and returned, their distance about 6 km and time about the same, with Brenda, Liane and René in the lead. It was another great evening weather wise, a low full moon and a more seasonal temperature of 2C.

On Monday evening Larry, Edie, Kevin, Glenn, Brenda, Liane, Rod, Hazra, and Alex walked from the mall along Cameron, Cameron Park, Eastlake, where Hazra, Edie, Kevin and Larry walked to Production Way then returned, their distance about 5 km and time about 1h10; Glenn, Brenda, Liane, and Rod walked to Underhill and returned, their distance close to 6 km and time about 1 hour; Alex jogged along Beaverbrook, up and down Noel, Cameron Park, Eastlake, down along Production Way to the skytrain station, back up and along Eastlake and back to the mall, his distance close to 8 km and his time about 1h10.

January 12
On Saturday morning Edie, Liane, René, Kevin, Rod, Hazra, Len with Jax, Larry, and Shiraz, who we were glad to see on a break from his other commitments, walked from Lougheed Mall along Cameron and Beaverbrook to Stoney Creek trail and continued to North Road. Rod, René and Liane continued up the Burnaby Mountain trail to Chapman, then returned the same way, their distance just over 7 km and time about 1h40.
The rest of the group turned back from North Road and followed the trail on return as well, their distance just over 5 km and time about 1h25. We were fortunate that it did not rain and there was even a bit of blue sky as we were returning.
Afterwards Edie, Liane, Hazra, Rod, René, and Larry had breakfast at IHOP where they were joined by Flora, who had done a run/walk of about 25 minutes’ duration with the Fit First group at Christine Sinclair Centre.
From Jennel: Also on Saturday Jennel did a long walk with her dogs, keeping her training up, amid being a “sports mom” for her daughters.

On Wednesday evening Glenn, Brenda, Liane, René, Kevin, Rod, and Larry walked from Lougheed Mall along Cameron, Beaverbrook and Eastlake. Kevin and Larry turned back at Production Way, their distance about 4 km and time about 50 minutes, while Glenn, Brenda, René, Rod and Liane walked to Underhill and returned the same way, their distance close to 6 km and time about 55 minutes. Another evening without rain, yeah!
From Jennel: On Wednesday Jennel jogged downhill to the library, then walked up the Coquitlam Crunch, Easier on her trick knee that way! Her total distance was 10 km.

On Monday evening Edie, Glenn, Brenda, Flora, Liane, René, Kevin, and Larry walked from Lougheed Mall along Cameron, Beaverbrook and Eastlake. Edie and Larry turned back at the Gaglardi underpass, their distance about 3.5 km and time about 40 minutes, while Glenn, Brenda, Flora, Kevin, René, and Liane walked to Underhill and returned the same way, their distance about 5.5 km and time just under 1 hour. No rain, so it was a good night to be out there.

On Saturday morning Len and Miriam with Jax, René, Hazra and Rod, and Larry met at Christine Sinclair Centre and walked from the Centre to the Burnaby Lake trails and continued on the trail towards Piper Spit nature house and returned the same way. Len, Jax, and Larry turned back earlier, their distance about 4 km and time about 1h30, while the rest of the group’s distance was about 6.5 km and time just under 2 hours. We beat the rain – it was just starting as Miriam, René, Hazra and Rod were finishing.
Afterwards we had coffee at Bastion’s in the Centre, and saw Brenda and Glenn who said hello after their spinning class, and Flora came for coffee as well. We also said hello to Carla Castellani, Rainy Kent and Joe Turtle (part of the “original” Cruisers and its predecessor group, the Forest Grove Runners), who had just completed their runs and walks with their group.

On Wednesday morning Edie, Kevin, Liane, Hazra, Rod, Brenda, Glenn, and Larry celebrated New Year’s Day by walking from Lougheed Mall, through the Lougheed underpass to Manchester St. and the trail to North Road, viewed the fire damage to a strip mall that appeared to be caused by an explosion last Sunday, then walked up North Road to Lougheed Hwy., to Austin and back to the mall. The group then enjoyed breakfast at IHOP. No rain during our waik, which was about 3 km in distance and a time of about 40 minutes.
Also on New Year’s Day, amazing and courageous plunges into the ocean were made by Len, Miriam and family and friends at the Polar Bear Swim at English Bay, and by Flora at the Penguin Plunge at Rocky Point.
Alex celebrated the day by doing a run in the afternoon, running a route around Central Park and Metrotown, distance 9.1 km and time 1h35..
