On Monday evening Kevin, Brenda, Glenn, Debra Colvin and her dog, and Larry walked from the mall down Bartlett Court, the Lougheed underpass to Keswick Park, did a lap around the track, then went along Cardston and Halston, Government, the Eastlake trail, up through Eastlake Park, Cameron, and back to the mall. Not a bad evening, cloudy but otherwise pleasant. Our distance was about 5.5 km and time was just under 1 hour.
On Saturday René ran a route to Como Lake Park and said hello to us as we were setting out on our walk. My apologies to René for leaving him out of the report!
More Cruisers ran the Sun Run on Sunday!
Norman Lum and his daughter Christy ran the 10 km. They ran it at a fast pace!
Norm’s time was 1h04:36 and Christy’s time was 1h04:28.

Next walk/run: Monday 6:30 p.m., Lougheed Mall entrance by IHOP
On Saturday morning, Kevin, Hazra, Rod and Larry met at Como Lake Park, walked a lap around the lake, then continued along Gatensbury and Foster to Mundy Park, then to Como Lake shopping centre A&W for coffee and refreshments, then back to Como Lake Park. Distance was about 6.5 km and our walking time was about 1h40. It was a beautiful sunny spring morning!
On Sunday, Flora, Alex, and Sherian ran the Vancouver Sun Run (10 km)! Alex and Flora ran together, and Sherian ran but unfortunately didn’t see them. It was almost perfect running weather, cloudy and not too hot or cold.
Just over 39,000 runners and walkers participated in the event.
Congratulations to the Cruiser runners! Your running times are awesome.

On Wednesday evening Sandy, Brenda, Glenn, Flora, Ross, Kevin, Rod, Hazra, and Larry met at the mall and walked down through Eastlake Park and along Eastlake; Larry, Hazra, Kevin and Glenn turned back at Production Way, their distance about 4 km and time about 45 minutes; Sandy, Brenda, and Rod continued to Underhill before turning back, their distance about 5.5 km and time about 55 minutes; Ross and Flora turned back early as Flora felt a bit under the weather but felt better later.
It was another evening of great weather, nice and sunny!
Flora and Alex are going to run in the upcoming Vancouver Sun Run this weekend. We wish them the best of luck!

On Monday evening Hazra, Rod, Larry, Brenda, Glenn, and René walked down Bartlett Court and the Lougheed underpass to Keswick Park, did a lap around the field there, then up to Cardston and through the townhouse area to Lougheed, Bell, and back on Cameron. It was a gorgeous, sunny evening, and our distance was about 4.5 km and time about 45 minutes.
From Jennel: On Tuesday morning Jennel walked 9.7 km on a route that included the Coquitlam Crunch. She enjoyed the great weather.
Flora is going to run in the upcoming Vancouver Sun Run! Are there any other Cruisers planning to do this event? Please let me know, thanks.

On Saturday morning Rod, Hazra, Edie, Shiraz, and Larry met at the Christine Sinclair Centre and walked on the Sperling trail to the Central Valley trail that goes parallel to the Skytrain route, to Douglas Road, and returned the same way.
Our distance was about 5 km and time about 1h10. The weather was mostly cloudy and a bit chilly but once we got going it was fine. Afterwards we had coffee and refreshments with Flora, who ran the Burnaby Lake trail with the Fit First group, distance 9.01 km and time 1h14, a good pace!

On Wednesday evening Rod, Hazra, Brenda, Glenn, Flora, her friend Donald, and Larry met at the mall and walked down Cameron to Noel Drive and into the Stoney Creek trail to North Road and back via Beaverbrook and Cameron, distance was about 6 km and time about 1h15.

On Monday evening LIane, Kevin, Rod, Hazra, Sandy, Brenda, Glenn, and Larry met at the mall and walked down Bartlett and the Lougheed underpass to Keswick Park where we walked two laps around the track, then up to Cardston. Liane, Sandy, and Brenda walked down to Government St. to the trail that goes up to Eastlake, then through Eastlake Park, Cameron and back to the mall, while the rest of the group cut through the townhouses down from Cardston to Lougheed Hwy, crossed at Bell Ave. and walked through the Lougheed Village towers and back to the mall.
Distance for Liane, Sandy, and Brenda was about 5 km and time about 45 minutes; distance for the rest of the group was about 4 km and time about 50 minutes. Sunny and spring-like!

On Saturday morning LIane, Edie, Kevin, Rod, and Larry met at the Port Moody rec centre and walked on the paved trail behind the centre to Alderside and walked a little more than halfway along that road before turning back along the paved trail and gravel trail to Rocky Point for ice cream. Rod left due to another commitment as we got back to the rec centre, his distance about 5.5 km and time about 1h30.
The rest of the group enjoyed the ice cream, then walked back to the rec centre, our distance about 8 km and walking time about 2 hours.
It was a great day weather-wise, sunny and it warmed up as we did our walk. Back at the rec centre after our walk, we met Flora, who had come to say hello after jogging 8 km with the Fit First group at Christine Sinclair Centre.

On Wednesday evening Kevin, Larry, Brenda, Glenn, René, Rod, and Liane met at the mall and walked down the Lougheed underpass to Keswick Park, walked a loop around the track while Brenda and Liane did two loops, then continued up to Cardston and through the townhouse area just west of there, then crossed Lougheed at Bell and returned to the mall via Cameron.
Our distance was about 4.50 km and time about 50 to 55 minutes. It was a nice spring evening, no rain and quite mild.
From Jennel: On Thursday Jennel jogged 21.15 km! Down to the library, the track at Town Centre, up to Heritage high school, back to her house and up and down the street to make it the distance. BMO coming up soon!

On Monday evening Kevin, Larry, Brenda and Glenn met at the mall and walked along Beaverbrook and the Stoney Creek trail to the Como Lake overpass, then returned the same way, our distance 4.25 km and time 56 minutes. The heavy rain of the afternoon amazingly stopped just before our walk.
From Jennel: On Tuesday Jennel walked 6.5 km with her dogs at Bert Flinn Park, then another 3 km at Town Centre track in the evening.

On Saturday morning Kevin, Liane, Larry, Len and Miriam with Jax, Edie, Shiraz, Hazra and Rod met at the Burnaby Mountain golf course and walked on Woodbrook, Augusta, Kitchener to Duthie, then the urban trail through to Westridge and Kensington Shopping Centre, then returned the same way to Greystone, Phillips, and the golf course.
Many in the group went for coffee after at the golf course coffee shop. Our distance was about 6 km and our time about 1h15.
Nice sunshine and spring weather!

On Wednesday evening Glenn, Liane, Brenda, Sandy, Hazra, Rod and Kevin walked along Erickson Drive through the Lougheed pedestrian underpass to Keswick Park, down around the track, up to the road then down the urban trail past Teramour to Government, up the Brunette Fraser trail to Eastlake Park, then to Cameron and back to the mall.
Our time and distance was about 1 hr and 5 km. It was Hazra’s birthday so we sang for her at the end of the walk in the mall seating area. Thanks to Kevin for the report!
From Jennel: On Wednesday Jennel and Heather walked 10 km on a route which included stops for coffee, wine and groceries. Then on Friday Jennel walked 8.17 km on the Coquitlam crunch and surrounding area.
