On Monday evening Edie, Liane, Brigitte, Laura, Eoin, and Larry walked from the mall along Cameron, Eastlake Park, Eastlake to the Gaglardi underpass – Brigitte and Liane went to Production Way – and returned the same way, our distance about 4 km or so, time about 70 minutes.

There’s still a chill in the air but it didn’t rain so it was a good night to walk.

On Saturday morning a special Cruisers gathering was graciously hosted by Edie and there was an excellent turnout as we celebrated Alex’s 80th birthday! Alex did a 5 km Park Run at Central Park before arriving at Edie’s – remarkable!

The weather co-operated as some of us went for a walk first. Kevin, Larry, Shiraz, Len, Miriam, Brigitte, Liane, and “original” Cruiser Libby Covernton, who joined us from the Sunshine Coast, walked from Edie’s to Como Lake and back, about 5 km. Meanwhile Edie and Angela visited with and prepared for the gathering with more Cruisers Debra Nicol and Rod Hargreaves and his wife Pat, and Barry Jones, and were soon joined by Eoin and Laura, another Cruiser from a few years ago, Laurie Hilborn, and then from their morning runs, Alex, Flora, and another original Cruiser Carla Castellani, and the Como Lake walkers returned to Edie’s.

Everyone enjoyed catching up with each other, looking at photos of past Cruiser adventures, the tasty treats, and sang Happy Birthday to Alex. It turned out that other Cruisers had also recently had birthdays, so we serenaded Flora, Shiraz, and Carla as well.

Many thanks to Edie for hosting and to Angela for her help!

On Monday morning Liane, René, Eoin, Laura, Edie, Kevin, Flora, and Larry met at Rocky Point. It was a bit chilly but our walk was okay as we walked along the paved trail and the new overpass to the Port Moody Rec Centre, where Larry, Edie, Kevin, Laura and Eoin turned back, with some of us using the gravel trails on the way back, distance about 4.5 km, while Flora did a walk-jog on a longer route, and René and Liane walked along Alderside almost to Ioco, then turned back, their distance just under 10 km and time just about 2 hours.

Of course ice cream and some coffee were enjoyed after, and we finished our walk before the light rain started.

On Wednesday evening Kevin, René, Eoin, Laura, Liane, Brigitte, Flora, Glenn, Brenda, Hazra, Rod, and Larry walked our usual walk route down Cameron, Eastlake Park and Eastlake. Flora turned back early as her cold was acting up. We met Rod and Hazra, who walked from Underhill, at Eastlake Park and continued on Eastlake to Production Way, while Brenda, Brigitte, Liane, Hazra, Rod and René continued to Underhill, where Hazra and Rod parked due to a traffic jam on Eastlake. Hazra and Rod finished their walk at Underhill, and the rest of the group made their way back to the mall.

Distance for those who walked to Production Way and back was 4 km, and for those that walked to Underhill and back was 5.5 km, time for all was about 1h10. It was a bit colder than recent walks but still a great night as there was no rain.
