Monday:  Laura, Eoin and  Edie walked to the end of Stony Creek trail and back.
Jennel:  Heather & I both ran from our homes and met at the corner of David & Pinetree.  From there, we ran the perimeter of Lafarge Lake twice, then both headed back to our homes.  Total Run: 1.5 hrs.
Wednesday: Larry and Laura ran from the Burnaby Lake parking lot along the trail to the nature house, then up Piper to Winston, westward along Winston, over the overpass, and return along Sperling walkway.   It was a good night for a run because we finished before the sprinkles of rain started, and the temperature was comfortable, a bit cool though compared to what we’ve been used to lately.  We used Winston’s wide bike lane and there was not much bike or car traffic, and we kept away from the skeeters.

From Jennel:  I picked up Heather and we drove to Hyde Creek Recreation Centre, we were about to run the Hyde Creek Route, when a lady warned us about the Bears!  Not that any have been seen lately, but just to be aware.  She also told us that if we talked along our run, that usually distracts the bears and they wouldn’t bother us.  WELL, that made our decision to run “very easy”.  There’s generally not a 5 min. stretch where we’re not talking about something, so we decided the bears probably wouldn’t bother us….We ran for exactly 1 hour at a VERY GOOD CLIP!   We haven’t been training doing 10 & 1’s, so it was a darn good run tonight!   (No editing required Jennel !!!!  Remember your B’s and C’s, LTY.)

On Saturday, seven keen runners were at Rocky Point and ran along the trails, and along the street up to April Road and Ioco Road, up to the Esso terminal, and returned the same way.  It was a glorious morning of sun and moderate temperature.  Laura, RA Edie, Alex, Rachel, Norman, Larry and Sherian were there.  Sherian ran to April and Ioco Roads and returned, distance 10 km, time 1 hour 15 minutes or so.  For the rest, their distance was 12 km, time was 1 hour 38 minutes or so.   There was some chatter about upcoming run events.   There are so many events coming up in the next couple of months.

Just another lousy run in Paradise!

From Christina:   Debra and I enjoyed a wonderful 17.1 run along the Fort to Fort trail, including the Houston trail extension (time out 2:15). The sun was shining off the river and the smell of blackberries was ripe in the air. We enjoyed a nutritious breakfast at the Village Café (we did not have the famous cinnamon buns though).   Afterwards, we wandered over to the farmers market set up in the parking lot of the Bedford restaurant where a variety of vendors displayed their goodies.   As Bob would say “ It doesn’t get any better than this!”
From Jennel:    On Friday evening, I ran down Panorama to Johnson, up Parkway Blvd. to the Starbucks (not for a coffee – but to use their Loo!), and ran the same route home….1hr. total at a fast pace as it was getting dark quite fast!!!  So between that hour run, and 3 hours of walking at the Zoo and an hour riding a Quadra-Bike around the Zoo with 2 toddlers in the front basket….I think I’ve put in my quota for the day!!!
