Monday’s run report courtesy of Laura:
The Recycling Person, aka Sherian and I ran up Cottonwood, thru Porter School, to Como Lake. Went once around the lake and then out thru the parking lot to Foster. Down Foster, on to Ebert, to North Road. Can’t j-walk across North Road in that section now with all the construction so had to cross at North Road & Cameron. Time 1 hr 4 min at that intersection, then walked from there back to Cameron Centre for a total outing of 1 hr 10 min. Cool, misty evening, great for running.
The Recycling Person was running/carrying several bottles on the latter part of the run. She said you’d know who she is, no need to mention her name! (Ed. note-but I did!)
Four Cruisers: RA Edie, Larry, Laura and Bobtoc took it easy Wednesday evening. The foursome ran/walked from the Centre to the Stoney Creek trail, turned into the Elementary School grounds, continued on Beaverbrook to the pedestrian overpass to Forest Grove Drive to the playground adjacent to the school, continued to the lane, then proceeded east on it crossing Cinnamon Drive, down the trail leading back to Forest Grove Drive, then back to the Centre via the overpass. Time and distance, 53:31, 6.5 respectively. The weather was 24C, muggy, but great as we stretched at the end of the run.
Other news:
Jennel is back to running, this time in Coquitlam. She ran with a new running buddy, a former marathoner, Monday evening, about 2 hours, and Wednesday evening short of an hour on Parkway Drive which compares to our Underhill. The husbands of the two play volleyball together Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Rod reports from California a new grandson was born late Monday night. Grandparents Rod and Pat are doing well. So are the parents and the babe.
Seven Cruisers: RA Edie, Christina, Larry, Laura, Sherian, Minnesota Rachel, and Bobtoc ran at Rocky Point on an overcast, humid morning Saturday at Rocky Point. The seven ran the usual scenic trail route to April Road with the exception of Alex who took the asphalt path paralleling Murray Road and Ioco Road to the Orchard Park beach thence to April Road. Time 1:23 to 1:26, distance 9.2 km and 10.2 km for Alex due to the longer route. Flora showed up later, having been busy with their impending house change. All present greeted warmly Christina whom we have not seen for a while.
Actually, Edie joined her niece in Kamloops for Michelle’s first 10k run. The day was hot and the route was very hilly. The first 10 minutes was uphill and there were many other hills along the route, which was twice around a 5k loop starting and ending at Thompson Rivers University. The runners were very athletic and not the usual cross section that we see in most of our runs. We were very happy to finish upright and smiling. We wore our Canada shirts in honour of the Olympics.
