Welcome back from Christmas festivities! On Wednesday Dec. 28, while The Elder Chap and his bride were comfortably dining at a dry and warm Hart House restaurant, celebrating their 55th anniversary, RA Edie, Laura, Eoin, Tracy, Chris Keeling and Larry met at Cameron Centre and headed off, sans Santa hats, along Beaverbrook to Eastlake, with Chris, Tracy & Larry running to Shellmont, up that hill (we were ambitious for our first post-Xmas run), and heading back along Forest Grove, while RA Edie and Laura ran the Forest Grove loop. Distance about 8 km, time out 1 hour almost on the dot. Eoin walked/ran to Broadway and Underhill and returned the same way. The weather started out quite nice actually, as the rain let up completely until about a third of the way through our run, then re-commenced pouring, so we were a tad
damp at the end, and of course the rain stopped again just as we pulled into the Cameron parking lot at the end of our run. Oh well, all’s well that ends well. It was very mild out (+8 C) which made the rain more bearable – really!

Nine Cruisers ran or walked from Cameron Centre Saturday on a cold 0C but dry morning. Ross walked west to Beaverbrook and Eastlake. Runners ran to Joe’s Trail to North Road and return via the trail, distance 8 km, times from 1.00 to 1.09. Those who met were Chris, Larry, Laura, RA Edie, Alex, Flora, Eoin and Bobtoc, the latter being the tail end charlies due to solving problems in the field of soccer. Don’t expect any tangible results from their problem-solving however.

Sunday: Edie and Laurie did the 5k Resolution Run on Sunday from the Port Coquitlam Running Room. Nice morning for a run, no rain but a bit of a chilly wind. Our brave Cruisers, Flora and Rachel braved the cold to take the plunge at Rocky Point. After their dip, they were fortified with hot chocolate generously laced with rum. Laura and Ross seen in the photo were the athletic supporters on hand to encourage the dippers.

On Sunday Flora and Minnesota Rachel hit the water at Rocky Point. Flora says:
A smaller crowd from last year as they did the plunge at 12 and again at 1pm due to a newspaper report. Also in the crowd were Laura and Eoin as onlookers. Minnesota Rachel arrived, the count down so it was a hi and the plunge. What can I say. It was fun. We thought about going in again but headed for the showers and a change instead. Hot choc fortified with rum wasn’t bad as well. By the way there are hot showers at the rowing club. Finished with nacho at Golden Spike’s pub which is slotted for much needed renovations.
