Norman at the Shaughnessy 8k
Tanya, Darren, Ruby & Neil at the Half Corked in Oliver
Five Cruisers met at Cameron and drove out to Rocky Point Park on a cool, clear Monday morning. Renee and I set off at a fast pace (well, a fast pace for me anyway) on the trail near the water, continued on the road at the trail’s end and out as far as the railroad tracks where the road ends, before turning back and retracing our steps. I kept up with him pretty well going out, but he left me in the dust on return. It was certainly good to have that extra push to run faster. Time out and back for me was around an hour, and for Renee less though I don’t know how much.
Flora, Ross, and Barry set out to walk/run with Flora running ahead of the pair, and going about as far as the trail’s end before turning back and in the tradition of the Cruisers finishing at the pier. Renee had to leave to go to another engagement, but the rest of the group stuck around for a lovely brunch at the Boathouse. A great run, and great company.
It was a rainy night for a run, but 7 dedicated souls and 1 canine slogged through the water because, well, we were out there already and thought we might as well make a go of it. Norman, back from his Boston-qualifying time at the Vancouver Marathon, Larry, Chris, and caboose Sherian who gave directions for the other three from the rear, ran along Eastlake to Production Way, down to Government St., up behind Seaforth School along some trails, back through Seaforth along Lakedale, back to Government, along Winston, and up the trail to Cameron. Time out for all, just under 1 hour, 9 km travelled. Not quite the best night of the year with all that liquid sunshine.
Flora, Libby, April and I ran all the way, but we waited so long for the lights at Lougheed and Brighton that the others were long gone. We ran down Government to Piper then turned left to Winston and ran past Costco and back our usual route to Cameron -SOAKED! We were out 1:08 I think. You picked a good night to miss. We didn’t send Libby out into the traffic, but waited together until it was safe to cross.
Saturday Morning: Ross walked; Flora, Edie and April ran to the Nature House and back; Rod, Bob and Alex ran past the Nature House to make 5k before returning to Cameron for a 10k run; Larry, Rachel and Laura ran to the Rugby Club and back for a total of 15k.
