Monday: Seven Cruisers: Sayeeda, Rod, Larry,Flora, Sharon, Rachel and Bobtoc ran from the Centre the reverse Forest Grove Drive route, using the Gaglardi overpass, the Drive to Shellmont to Greystone, returning the usual route, caressed by gently falling precip all the way, a mild November evening. Distance 8.5 km, times from 1:09 to 1:15.
Wednesday: Thanks to Larry for the following report.
It was a bit of a trip down memory lane as we saw some faces we haven’t seen for awhile, plus, we had someone new attend. The newcomer was Iris, a graduate from the Burnaby Lake Wednesday Morning Sun Run Clinic, who kept up to the runners in front. Ryan Lekivetz and Chris Keeling made their return appearances and we were happy to see them! Shiraz Mohamed also was able to run with us, and we continue to hope for the best for him and his family (all is okay for now). A total of 14 runners/walkers turned out. Alex Lau came out to walk and stretch, recovering from his PB at this past weekend’s BMO Vancouver Marathon, arriving to a cheer from us all. The newcomer and the returnees, plus the rest of the crowd, Larry, Rod, Edie with canine Cruiser April, Libby, Sharon, Laura Farrelly, René, Nancy Stagg, and Debra all set out at various speeds along the IGA route, enjoying the suddenly mild spring temperature and no rain, with Ryan, Chris, Debra, Nancy, René and Iris leading the way, while Edie and April did a shorter walk up to Arden Way and returned. For the runners, time out for the 9.5 km course ranged from 1 hour for the leaders to 1:15 or so for the rest. A great turnout, must have been the fine weather and a non-playoff game night for the Canucks. (Bobtheelder was absent with leave to attend the Whitecaps game.)

Saturday:
Nine runners and walkers showed up on a soggy, cold morning Saturday. The group welcomed Verna Liu, a grad from the Cameron Centre Sun Run Clinic. The group was divided into groups based on their requirements and set off. Ross was the sole walker this morning; his goal was to walk one hour. Flora and Eoin Farrelly, Laura Farrelly and Verna, and Larry, Laurie, RA Edie and Bobtoc were the three running groups, all lsd, all heading west and south to Burnaby Lake via Government Street then into the north trail. Flora and Eoin ran 40 minutes, close to the Piper Avenue Nature House then returned, achieving their goal of 80 minutes, distance close to 9 km. Laura and Verna, along with the third group, continued and circumnavigated Burnaby Lake, then reversed on the north trail to Cariboo Road and GovernmentStreet; the two opted to return to Cameron Centre; their time 1:53, distance 14 km. Larry, Laurie, RA Edie and Bobtoc continued east onto Joe’s Trail to North Road, then reversed, crossing Government Street, headed north to Cameron Street and you know the rest; time 2:32, distance 18 km with more for Larry who bobturned to keep the runners in sight. Kathy Ford, take note of Verna’s distance and time! The nine were soaked through and through, just like November.
Rod Hargreaves ran his lsd Friday morning alone since he was a volunteer at the annual Salmon Send Off at Stoney Creek Elementary School Saturday. Rod ran from home to Kensington Rink, on the way back up Shellmont to Forest Grove Drive, over the overpass to the Stoney Creek trail through to North Road, Chapman Avenue in Coquitlam, south on Clarke Road to Sullivan Heights and home, time 2:50, 23 clicks.
