Alex, Edie and Bobtoc welcomed back Laura and Owen Farrelly back to the Cruisers Monday morning at Burnaby Lake. Before the five plus Edie’s dog April ran they met and talked to Bushtits Mike, Ernie and his son, Tony, Dom and wife Kenda. The Bushtits started their run onto the north lake trail while the Cruisers turned south into the trails, ran past the bird sanctuary, 20 minutes out then reversed dir

ection back to the parking lot. Time out, 41 minutes, distance 5.3 km. Nathalie Perel-May turned up later with a friend for a mornng run. We had the opportunity of catching up on news with her.

Nine Cruisers braved a light rain Wednesday at the Centre from which they ran or walked. Flora and Rachel walked, not sure of their route and time. Runners Libby, RA Edie, Larry, Rod, Rene’, Bobtoc welcomed Nancy Stagg who ran with the group, despite the fact that berry season is not yet upon us. The route of the runners included the Stoney Creek trail to North Road, south on North to Jefferson Ave, south on Tyndall, crossing Como Lake Road, continuing onto Clark Road, then North Road, turning into the Sullivan Heights subdivision west then returning to the Centre. Time, 32 minutes, distance 4 km, with Rod, Rene’ and Larry adding another .5 km. The light rain ceased a few minutes after the return of the nine to Cameron Centre. Go figure.

Eight Cruisers met at the Burnaby Lake parking lot Saturday at 8:00 am on the cool but sunny day , great for their runs or walk. It doesn’t get any better than this!
RA Edie and Laurie, Larry, Rod and Bobtoc used the Central Valley Greenway for their lsd run starting from Sperling Avenue west to Douglas Road, crossing onto Still Creek Road and onto the Greenway. Edie and Laurie ran to Commercial Drive before returning, time 2:05, distance 16 km. The next three continued to Clarke Drive before returning, respective times 2:27, 2:35 and 3:07, distance 21:5 km. Sharien, Flora and Ross also used the Central Valley trail, the first time on for Flora and Ross. Sharien and Flora ran to Gilmore Avenue before returning, their time 1:15 back to the parking lot, plus for Sharien her run back to her home using Winston Street. Ross walked a lesser distance.
