Rachel and Tanya celebrate the New Year by running the Fat Ass 50! Way to go!
Rachel, Flora, Len did the Penquin Plunge and Alex did the Polar Bear Swim!
What happened on Monday night per Larry, for which I thank him:
Twas the week before Christmas and seven elves plus a canine Cruiser toiled away in the refreshing air – a wisp o’ wind. Alex, Rachel, Tracy, Flora, Edie and canine friend April ran the
familiar Forest Grove route
starting from the Stoney Creek school over the Gaglardi
overpass and up that Forest
Grove hill. About 10 km in a time of about 1 hour 10 min. Larry and Ross walked Eastlake to Underhill and back in about
the same amount of time. Lots of Santa hats as well. On the runners I
mean.
Bobtoc stayed in bed!
Wednesday night was well worth the effort – the Trinity Street lights are fantastic. C
ruisers
that came were Carla, Alex, Rachel, Laurie, Christina, Neil and me and April. After the walk to view the lights, Christina, Neil,
Rachel, and Alex went for a twenty minute run while the others walked back to their cars. It was a mild night with no rain. Rainy led the group in “Away in the Manger” in front of one of the displays. There was about 30 in the group.
Larry, Tracy, Flora and Ross were met at the Cameron Centre by a couple of faces we haven’t seen for awhile – Barry Jones and Rachel Fouladi. So nice to see them! Tracy and Rachel went on their merry way for an adventurous trail run, while Barry, Flora, Ross and Larry walked into Coquitlam, going up Cottonwood, saw the synchronized Christmas light show display on a house on Cottonwood, and headed south on Blue Mountain Road, and turned west again on Foster, and returned to Cameron, time out – 1 hour 25 minutes, a long and pleasant walk on a very mild and no precip night – weather-wise one of the best nights of the fall/winter so far. The foursome then had a re-energizing meal at Paros Greek restaurant in Burquitlam Centre before heading home.
On Wednesday evening Dec 29, Alex, Edie with her gorgeous dog April, Larry, Tracy, Bobtoc and Harvey ran, walked or hopped from the Centre to Beaverbrook, the Gagliardi overpass, Forest Grove Drive, Underhill, Eastlake, Beaverbrook and Cameron St back to the Centre. The group enjoyed a clear, bright but cold evening, probably the best night of the year. Time, 1 hour flat, distance per Alex’s map, 6:42 km.
