Shiraz: This is cross training for the half, right???
Monday: Seven Cruisers met at 6:30 pm at Cameron Centre to run or walk. Rene, Lori, Shiraz and Edie ran, and Larry, Susan Vedoy and Bobtoc walked. The destination for all was Joe’s Trail. The four runners reached Hume Park before returning, and the three walkers did not reach North Road before turning back to the Centre. Bobtoc re-injured his left calf muscle but hobbled back from the vicinity of Cariboo Road and Government Street. The seven enjoyed beautiful weather and temperature, perfect for the run/walk, and appreciated the shade afforded for much of the route.
Wednesday: Cruisers reward after the 20 minute challenge is a trip to DQ for a recovery Peanut Buster Parfait. Who needs lard balls? Timmy’s has competition.
Six Cruisers, five at the Poco Running Room- Edie, Lora, Sharon, Shiraz and Bobtoc, and Alex with wife Angela at the Burnaby Running Room ran the 20 minute challenge, with Edie and Bobtoc walking only due to the old guy’s screaming left calf muscle, while others ran 5k with the Poco RR half marathon clinic. All received their red caps, also picked up said caps for Laurie and Larry who could not make the early 6:00 pm time. The group enjoyed sunny weather and the large groups that turned out. Christina, Ken Blowey and Niel also were in Poco for the 20 minute challenge. Most Cruisers including Christina topped off the evening at the Shaughnessy St. DQ for a debriefing session. Mmmm good!
