Monday: Seven Cruisers: RA Edie, Alex, Ryan, Carla, Lora Delorme who returned after more than a month due to influenza and Bobtoc the runners, and Larry the walker for the evening. The runners ran north and east to the Stoney Creek trail, north on North Road to Chapman Avenue, east crossing Clarke Road to Robinson, south along Robinson to Ebert Avenue, west to North Road, south to Cameron St and return; time 51 minutes, guestimated distance 8.5 km. Larry walked west from the Centre to Underhill and Broadway and return, his time about one hour. The seven enjoyed comfortable temperature, no precip, great for the outings. Rod ran solo in the morning, time out, 1:10, distance 10.5.
Wednesday: Four Cruisers: Libby, Rene, Sharon and Shiraz met for a run to the IGA corner and back, time out approx. one hour, less for Rene. EA Edie, Larry, Rod and Bobtoc conducted a study session at Tim Horton’s North Road branch, planning for the Scotiahalf. As in all meetings, nothing was settled except for Edie’s leadership when to meet Sunday morning for carpooling (5:15 am and other transportation arrangements, for which leadership Edie graciously picked up the tab for drinks and stuff, also will pick up the race packets. The conditions for the runners were muggy, warm, very close.
Weekend: No Cruisers ran Saturday morning. Rod, Bobtoc, Alex and Larry met at Tim Horton’s Saturday at 8:00 am for a Scotiabank planning session, receipt of race packets picked up by Edie. Our thanks to Edie for doing that. Larry provided support for Rod, Alex, and Bob, plus, he paid for his own drink.
Scotibank results: The 3,744 finishers of the Half Marathon, 2,125 being female and 1,619 being male, enjoyed perfect weather for the 21.2 trek from UBC to Ceperly Park in Stanley Park. Showers did not appear, and a mild temperature and overcast skies prevailed.
