The Longest Day – June 18th: Norman’s pre race lardball load, Alex starting out on his 52 minute 10k run and Carla and Norman have the post run recovery meal. Laurie, Anna and Edie also joined in the festivities and the food! Tanya and Ruby were also there.

Monday: Eleven Cruisers met Monday at the Centre, Adele, Tracy and Larry to walk, Alex, Carla, Edie, Rod, Rachel Fouladi (hooray!) , Sharon, Tish (another hooray!), and Bobtoc to run. The walking trio chose as their route the Stoney Creek trail to North Road, north up to the SFU powerline trail to its apex then returned; time out one hour. The eight runners chose Joe’s Trail to Hume Park in New Westminster and return as their route, time 1:04, distance 8.8 km, and for Rachel, 9:4 by virtue of running ahead and re-grouping. The eleven experienced overcast skies, comfortable temperature, and managed to avoid the rain which started after the eleven returned. Farewells were said to Rachel who is off to France for a number of weeks. Keep in shape, Rachel!

Wednesday: Seven Cruisers did hill repeats Wednesday on a cool but great evening for our purposes. Alex, Rene, Rod and Sharon did 5x, Bobtoc 4x, and Libby and Edie did 3x of Underhill Avenue before continuing their run back to the Centre via Forest Grove Drive, the overpass, and you know the rest. Times varied from 1:18 to 1:22. distance about 9 km.

Saturday: Four Cruisers : RA Edie, Rod, Sharon and Bob, plus two canine cruiserettes Belle and April met at Rocky Point in Port Moody. Rod, Sharon and Bob ran to April Road via the usual route using Alderside on the north shore while Edie stayed with her flotilla of two for their walk. Time and distance for the trio of runners, 1:08 and 9 km; for the canine flotilla, unknown. The route was rife with dogs on leashes, the youngest pup being a golden lab, 11 weeks old, name Oliver- a beautiful pup. Edie’s bad and good news: lost her keys, good news, turned in by someone on the trail. Life is good. The Cruisers enjoyed very light cloud cover and temperature +15 C.
