Monday

Twelve Cruisers welcomed Laura Farrelly from the Cameron Sun Run Clinic to the Cruisers group. Runners Rod, RA Edie, Alex, Rachel Lindquist, Bobtoc, Carla, Stormin’ Norman, Sharon, Tish and Tom Jung, Laura and temporary walkers Flora and Larry embarked from the Centre to Hume Park as their destination via Cameron Street, Government Street, Cariboo Road to Joe’s Trail through to North Road, crossing it to Hume Park then returned same route. The 13 enjoyed a warm but muggy evening on the relatively flat route, the sighting again of the grey-blue heron, but weren’t alert enough to see huckleberries (see Rob’s comments below) ; time and distance 1 hour, 9km.The following welcome e

mail was received from Rob and Nancy
Stagg Sunday. They are alive and well, obviously looking forward to Nancy’s favourite season:
The salmon berries are
ripening around Burnaby Lake. They’re coming along at Mundy Park as well. Spring is truly here! Huckleberries must be just around the corner and blackberries can’t be too far behind. Life is good.
Wednesday

Rod, Edie, Larry, Flora and Libby met at Cameron Centre at 6:30 p.m. Libby and Flora elected to run to Como Lake and back , although at
7:50 p.m. they had
not yet returned to Cameron Centre
. Rod, Edie and Larry went to Tim’s Lardball Emporium
and discussed next Sunday’s race strategy (no conclusions were
made as usual) then
hung out for a bit at the big new Liquor Store just off Cameron St. on
North Road. Some imp
orted
French beer and Au
ssie wine were purchased as fuel for the Penticton weekend. The Aussies sure have a s
ense of humour when it comes to name-branding wine – Timbuktu, Wits End, and Evil to name a few.
G’day,
Larrytheyounger

Don’t know what else went on last weekend, but some of us had a great time in Penticton at the Peach City Half and 10k. The weather was coolish (thankfully) and those of us who ran longer times to enjoy the scenery, ran into some strong head winds and rain. The times were as follows:
Debra 1:57:58
Ruby 1:59:56
Rod 2:12:44 – his 40th Half
Edie 2:36:07Christina 2:42:38
Bobtoc 2:42:35
Tanya 58:55 10k

Our athletic supporters included Marie, Larry (aka Sweetheart), Chris, Niel,
Rosemary and Rob (Rod’s sister-in-law and brother-in-law) and Edie’s high school buddies, Renate and Judy. Thanks to Christina for making reservations for Saturday night at Mama Zia’s in Summerland and for Sunday lunch at Earls. Rod received an autographed bottle of rum and a new running hat with princess bling on it to commemorate his 40th Half along with a genuine Bud Lime medal. Way to go, Rod! EVERY OTHER RUNNER WILL COVET YOUR HAT AND MEDAL. Have a drink of rum before you wear it out in public. Lots of pictures were taken and will be put on Picassa and the board soon so stay tuned. Another successful Cruiser road trip.

Bob, please note that the Cruisers would like a secondary clubhouse in Penticton so please get on it.
