Monday: Four Cruisers: Carla, Rod, Tish and Bobtoc did not run due to technical difficulties. The four therefore used alternate Plan T for debriefing, trauma counselling utilizing Timmie’s coffee in various forms depending upon the individual malady, and sustenance in the form of cookies or doughnuts to replace electrolytes. Those who did not experience this episode will find it hard to swallow. It doesn’t get any wetter than this!
Wednesday: Six Cruisers: Alex, RA Edie, Larry, Libby, Tracy who eschewed the Tuesday and Thursday runs after several weeks of waiting for no shows to run with, and Bobtoc ran to the IGA corner and return, but utilizing Shellmont hill on the way back, then onto Forest Grove Drive to the Gaglardi pedestrian overpass and the Beaverbrooks back to the Centre. Time and distance, 1.13, 10.1 km. The six enjoyed a cool, no precip evening, ideal for the run. Darkness falls early; reflects and/or lights necessary from now on.
Saturday: Six Cruisers emerged on a crisp, bright, no precip morning Saturday at 7:30 am. Runners RA Edie, Stormin’ Norman, Rick, Tish Rod and Bobtoc ran west through to the IGA corner and continued to the Kensington Ice Arena and returned; time 1.58 and 1.59 for Norman, distance 16.5 km and 19.5 km for Norman who tacked on extra distance, leaving the other five in his wake. The goal of walkers Lynn and Al was 18.5 km using the route from the Centre to Burnaby Lake, onward west to the Urban Greenway, crossing Douglas Road onto Still Creek St and continuing on the Greenway and return.
Norman ran Friday as well as Saturday. His report follows:
I did a long run of 31 km on Friday from my house along Como Lake Avenue to Mariner Way then south to Austin Ave to Lougheed Hwy then continued south along Government to Winston St. along the Crosstown Greenway to Sperling Ave. Then up Sperling to Hastings St. then east along Hastings to Duthie, then turned south to Greystone , Arden , and along East Lake to Cameron, then North Road back to my house on Rathburn.
Time :3 hr 25 minutes 31 km.
