Rock’n’Roll Seattle June 27th

Sixteen Cruisers and near-Cruisers were active Saturday and Sunday, thirteen at the inaugural Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon and Half Marathon event and three at the Scotiabank Half Marathon in Vancouver. Stormin’ Norman and Ryan Lekivetz ran the full marathon in Seattle, Norman’s fifth and Ryan’s first. Sgt. Major Christina, Debra, RA Edie, Jeff May, Larry, Laurie, Rod, Shiraz and Bobtoc, as did Niel Ferguson and Tanya Jones of the Poco Running Room, run the Half. In Vancouver, Cruisers Carla, Gina and Sharon ran the Half. Both groups enjoyed perfect weather; blue skies, moderate temperatures. In Seattle, the runners were shuttled by bus to the start line in Tukwilla, a suburb city near Seattle. Temperatures at 6.00 am were warm enough not to need outerwear other than the running togs for the run itself. No doubt the Vancouver runners shared the sam experience.
Bobtoc ran officially under the name of Suzanne Crawford, one of Rainy’s group of runners and one of the SunRun Clinic leaders. The dilemna prompted one or two of our Cruisers to dub Bobtoc Bob in transition. You can imagine the anagram provided by John Saremba…
The twelve runners plus five athletic supporters in Seattle who went down together enjoyed a fabulous weekend of fun, food, fellowship and fairly good results on the race course. Stats for the Seattle runners are:
